The prices do seem quite high for the dates you need the car. I would check daily and see if you can catch a deal. I sometimes check 2-3 times a day because you can catch a deal. Sometimes, they have deals for 3-4 hours then they disappear. I have also heard that 6-8 weeks prior to your trip is a time when a lot of car rental agencies will put out sales if they need to.

When I first starting looking back in June for our November car rental, prices were running $350-$400 for the week I needed it. I caught a sale in September and paid $150 for the week including all taxes and fuel. I was obsessive and checking 2-3 times per day though.

Good luck - I hope you find a good deal.:)

What I do is check a site like Orbitz daily for my dates because it pulls up all the rental agencies at MCO so it's easy to compare prices. If I find a good rate I will book but keep checking either through Orbitz or directly with the car rental company because the price will usually come down. I need a 5 day van rental for Jan and when I started looking several months ago the cheapest rate was $272 offsite which eventually dropped to $221, $185, $165 and finally $151. It has jumped back up to over $300. If you find a good rate with EZ Car there is an extra 5% discount on their website for certain occupations, students, seniors etc

I have used the codes from Mousesaver.com. There are a lot of them and in some cases you can use more than one on the same rental so it can take a bit of time to try them all but it does make a difference.

Also most of the car rental companies have loyaty programs and will email you specials. We tend to use National and they often have last minute specials that include MCO, I think it is about a month out. Based on what we paid for our airfare, double normal, for very similar dates this is obviously a peak period, at least from Canada, so it may be risky to wait.

I do not believe there is a penalty for canceling with any of the car rental companies so if you see something reasonable book it but keep looking and cancel it later if something better comes up.

If you are staying on site and can take ME consider checking some of the Disneyworld locations as well as the airport. We've rented for a day or two for well under $20/day all in by DTD.

Good luck

We rent a minivan and the past years we were able to get one through Alamo as a last minute special.
This year we weren't able to get anything as cheap as we usually do. We booked through CAA. We paid $398 all taxes in for a minivan including an infant seat for 10 days.

398 for 10 days march break on a minivan is amazing! Best I've seen is about 650.

Definetely check out Hotwire.com We rented a mid sized car for 8 days @ $143 US funds. Great price, nothing comparable. The price usually goes down late in the evenings and on the weekdays to $12/day

Look at expedia.ca budget has a full size for just ver $200 for March 11 to 19th taxes and fees in

I have a minivan booked with National (Emerald Aisle) for $369 inc. add'l driver. I use codes from mousesavers.com like a previous poster mentioned. I will keep checking back as some days the prices seem to fluctuate and I'll rebook, or update with a new coupon that will come out, or something along those lines.

I like using National so I can just go to the lot and pick up my vehicle and do the "paperwork" at the booth on the way out of the lot. I don't want to have to shuttle anywhere, or stand in line at the airport. Years ago with Alamo we stood in line - with a 2 1/2 yr old running around and a 7 month old screaming to be nursed while my dh and I waited to check in with the desk. My parents were trying to deal with the two little monkeys. I've never seen it quite as busy as that time, but I still don't want to have to stand in line!

Good luck ... just keep checking!!!! I have booked already just so that I know I have a vehicle. I got caught continuously checking for this past July and couldn't get a van. It was so hot to all be crowded into an Impala in the heatwave!!!

I have also used the codes on mousesavers for an upcoming trip.

I was sceptical at first, but then I priced the rental with (and without) the codes and saw a huge difference in price. This was directly on the Budget website.

Good luck, and enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks everyone....I went with Budget as I get a discount with my TD Business Travel Visa.....I got a full size car for March 11 to 18 for $257 all in. Best of all TD Visa covers insurance as well! Not a bad deal I think..:thumbsup2

Try Budget using BCD Number x474200 (travelocity public code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30.00 off. The total from March 13 - 19 for a minivan is $269.24 after $30.00 coupon is applied when you return the vehicle.

If you are a Costco member check out Costco's travel site which you can find if you search for it. You can often use mousesaver's coupons with the rates and benefits from Costco's site. I have done it many times. You are likely too far out and will find a slightly better rate as you get closer.

Thank you for the code, we've just used it an saved a little bit!

Thank you! :worship: That brought my 10 day mini van rental down to $442.72 with the coupon. Every little bit counts ;)

With Budget can you go right to the lot to get your car or do you have to stand in line somewhere?
I'd be willing to try it if there isnt' any "line-standing"!!! :)

I'm looking for a car rental for May 2011. There are 8 of us-I'm having a hard time finding a vehicle for all of us at a good price. Thinking about renting 2 vehicles instead. Anyone have a great deal? On carrentalsavers.com I found a mid-size for $250 for 10 days. Not sure if this is a good deal or not?

Don't know if this is an option, but if you're staying at WDW, we take magical express to WDW, then rent from DOllar (free shutlle) and use code oi1054, just print off the orlando magic card online (in case they ask for it to use the code). Got our minivan for March for just over $300 for a week.+

Can someone see if they can get a better rate than $265 for a midsize March 15 to 22? We are actually returning the car after the 24 hour daily period, so technically it's a week and an extra day. So the weekly rate was about $165 plus $23ish for the extra day and then add the taxes for all in $265. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Booked through Southwest's website when I bought airfare...
