We are going to DL in October. We will be staying for 4 nights probably at the Disneyland Hotel. Then we will be going to San Diego for 2 nights and flying home from there. Are there car rentals close to the Disneyland hotel and if so does anyone know which companies?
Also - we are planning on having our kids (4 & 6) buy their Halloween costumes at the park. Which shops have good costumes?

Can't help you with car rentals but as far as costumes if your children are girls you can go to the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique, which is right through the castle. If you do a search you'll find a few threads on it with pictures of the selections. They also have some knight stuff for boys but not a good selection at all. HTH and welcome to the boards.

Probably would be more convenient to buy the costumes at the park and a better experience, but just so you know there's a Halloween Club store in the area that's open to the public. I always see it from HWY 5 and that's how I can tell when we're almost at Disneyland. It's probably about 15 minutes away or so, but park shopping would be more convenient. I've seen costumes in Downtown Disney.

We are renting a car from the Alamo location in DTD during our upcoming stay...it was actually cheaper to rent from this location instead of the Orange County Airport location. :confused3

We are renting the car for a couple of days and then returning it to SNA when we leave to fly back home.

Sorry, I can't answer your question about costumes.

Have a great trip!

We bought a Captain Jack costume for our DS 13, when he was 10, at World of Disney. We paid $45 for it, but it came with a ton of stuff - hat with hair, boot cover thingies, pants, shirt and the shirt was ripped with the skeleton bones showing through on a black shirt. We bought the sword separately. When we came home from our trip (it was Oct. 2006) we saw lots of Jack costumes around here, for about the same price, but without all the extras. You had to buy the hat, hair and boot covers separately. And, they didn't have the skeleton part in the costume. So, while the prices may seem high at DLR, sometimes they are the better value.

As for enough room in luggage, it folds/rolls up quite small and the parts are all really soft. He was able to wear it for 3 halloweens and would still wear it now, if it fit him.
