Yet another question from Canada!!

We decided to rent a car for the week. We want to be able to pick it up and drop it off at LAX.
We have never done the car rental thing before.
Any suggestions?
Best prices?
How to find out if they have a place at LAX?

Thanks again!!

Most of the car rental places are not in LAX I have found out. We are leaving in 4 days! But almost all of them will shuttle you to where their rental place is. We are going through Alamo because they had a mini van for less than $250 for 8 days. I just do a search for "car rentals LAX" and got most of the companies that service LAX. Have fun!

I am also from Alberta, Albertan Mom, and have rented from several different car rental companies at LAX. In order to get the best price, I would suggest going to expedia.ca or www.destina.ca and check for rates. These are both Canadian sites and you will be able to book in Cdn funds. I usually book through Destina. We usually pay about $150/week for a fullsize. You will need to catch a shuttle to the car rental agency. After you pick up your luggage, just go out the doors and wait for a shuttle bus (each company has shuttles that come around every few minutes.

Check out mousesavers.com. Mary does a great job of listing various options for discounts on car rentals. A lot of companies offer discount codes that you can use, but I'm not sure how that would work when booking out of Canada.

Also, there is a Dis board dedicated to Transportation that also has a lot of information. I'm sure there are people there that have booked from Canada.

I did a quick search and here are the companies that service LAX. (Personally I use National any time I rent a car. I've just been able to get the best rates and service from them)

Advantage
Alamo
Avis
Budget
Dollar
Enterprise
Hertz
Fox/Payless
National
Thrifty

I go to Disneyland from FL 5-6 times a year, always flying into LAX (only way to go nonstop from MCO), and after the third time, I've settled on Enterprise. They tend to have the most competitive rates and best fleet out of the major companies in the area. Last Xmas I got an Infiniti FX35 for 4 days for $170... not bad at all. They were doing Midsize for less than $100 for the same time frame. This year, the prices have been about the same on my trips, where others like Dollar have gone up in price.

Hey, I'm from Alberta also, there sure are a lot of us headed down to DL LOL
I got a great rate that I learned about via the mouseavers.com site, We rented thru Dollar rent a car and used the rate code COM24, it gave us an intermediate car for $149.00 a week, I think they also offered a mini van for 189.00 a week.

Does anyone know--can you get rental cars with GPS in them??

Thanks!

Dollar and Thrifty will begin to offer GPS for $10 in November. Hertz, Avis, and National all offer it for an additional fee at the present time

Cool.
Do you know what the additional fee is?
And the $10, is that for a week?

Thanks!
