I think a midsize for a group of five is way too small. Don't forget you will need to transport all your luggage and a midsize barely holds two good size suitcases and 4 people.
To answer your question you should do a little homework on all the car rental companies in the area. Hertz is off the airport itself but on the airport are Dollar, National/Alamo, Avis, Budget, and L&M. Try mousesavers website for good codes and advice for renting in and around the airport www.mousesavers.com also check www.biddingfortravel.com for advice about using priceline for your car rentals. we always use PL and have had wonderful cars for a fraction of the website prices.
Hope this helps,
Marylyn
Check out www.rentalcodes.com and mousesavers.com for the codes. I found Avis code there that got us 116$ /week rate (before taxes, 154$ including taxes) for economy car for mid-May.
Widow shop:
You have to frequent all the car rental sites.
I had made res for a full size in Dec and a week ago got the same price for a mini suv by calling the rental co. after surfing their site and seeing a florida special, no dicount code needed.
When you log on to the web every day you have to just go threw the individual sites. There seems to be a new marketing trend in promos like the SWA proms where limited time for the offers and they quickly.
