Prices all coming up fairly close. Any positive or negative experiences with car rental agencies at MCO? Ease of getting to/from arrival/departure area? TIA

You'll probably have more luck over in the Transportation forum. (You probably didn't even know there was a Transportation forum.)

The quick answer to your second question is that as long as you select a on-site provider, all rental companies are about equally easy to use. Just avoid any company that requires a shuttle to the location.

I would disagree with the part about avoiding ones that require a shuttle to the location. Yes, they'll take up some extra time, so budget for that, but you can often get screaming deals through them. We've done it a few times and it's always worked out perfectly fine.

That was directly related to this part of tiredaurora's post: "Ease of getting to/from arrival/departure area?"

And for ease, nothing beats the companies with direct to car (National, Alamo, others?). Some still make you wait in line for the counter before you get out of the terminal. We have National Emerald Aisle (free) and go straight to the parking garage, pick any car in our class, and head to a speedy checkout at the exit booth. (Secret tip: they sometimes hide easter eggs if you look. We found an SUV tucked behind a pillar in the Compact row. Yup it was legit - SUV for the Compact price for the week).

In other years I spent a couple of hours in the lines (Budget - but Thrifty lines always appear even longer), was not impressed. I know they are all trying to speed things up with kiosks and the like, but some do a better job than others. My personal experiences - YMMV.

Dollar Express (free to join) has been great for me. Joined after first trip in 2005 when i waited in long line in airport before learning of this. Now, I go straight to the garage. Quick paperwork at desk in garage, then pick out car of choice in my class. Price is usually best I can find. I am usually out of the garage 15 minutes after getting my bag.
