Just want to pick your collective brains :)

I know there have been many posts re car hire and various providers but I am finding it difficult to get quotes for EXACTLY the same type of cover.

The definition of "Gold" cover seems to vary between companies ( some include a 2nd or more driver and full tank of gas - some don't). Some say fully inclusive - but really it's not).

Last visit we thought we had a "Platinum" package with Alamo but, on arrival, found out that road side assistance wasn't included. $75 onto our credit card

Can anyone suggest where we might find a few providers that will genuinely quote for a package which includes absolutely everything? All the liability insurance, extra driver, tank of gas AND road side assistance.

Maybe I am just not looking in the right place :surfweb: but any suggestions would be great.

I don't know of any rental companies or agents which provide roadside assistance other than as an optional extra. Anyone else?

As Deb says none of the companies include RA. I have rented over 20 times now and never needed it. If you breakdown you are covered without, it its only for if you lock your keys in the car, leave you lights on all night etc.
USrentacar's cover is inclusive even covers extra driver with some companies. You can upgrade to Gold cover that includes a tank of fuel and upto 3 drivers. This is as good as it gets. When collecting your car they will try sell you their kids if they could, just say NO you don't want it.

I had a puncture with Hertz a couple of years ago and couldn't get the wheel nuts off.
Phoned Hertz and they sent AAA without any problems.

Now I didn't query if it was free becuase I couldn't get the nuts off or because I'm a #1 gold card holder but maybe phone them.

I'd agree it's not worth paying for.

Thanks for the input. On reflection, I think I may be getting myself confused -and at my age it is not uncommon :rotfl:

Am I right in saying that breakdown cover comes automatically with the rental? For instance, a failure on the 192 which required a tow or even a replacement car would be provided by the rental company.

If that's the case then, yep, I paid for something I didn't need when we last visited

I'll put that one down to experience and will keep searching for a good deal.
