Car Rental-When Size Does Matter

What size you think we need? Trying to keep cost down. Would like to get Full Size vs Premium.

2 Adults
2 Sm Kids in Car Seats
1 Double Stroller

Probably 3 Large Luggage 28"-31" (Yet to buy)
1 Sm Luggage
2 Carry-ons
Large Diapper Bag

Would all this fit?

Full Size Car: Taurus or Impala (which is bigger)
Prem Car: Bonneville or Grand Mar (which is bigger)


Anyone know of a great rate for mid-Oct?

OK here goes. Impala has a bigger trunk then taurus, but you should be able to fit everything into the taurus if you use the back seat. We take 4 suitcase 30 in duffle bages w wheels and I can fit it into the trunk with 1 carry on. Other carry ons go in the back seat with the kids 12 & 9.
The Grand Marquis has a hugh trunk and you should be able to bring along the kitchen sink if you want.

If your main concern is to and from airport to Disney you should be fine with the full size. If the kids are in car seats you can use the floor for carry on bags.

Check your airline. Some of the 31" bags are over the size limits for airlines. It's very easy to pack a 31" bag with more than 50 lbs which is the limit for many airlines and might be the limit of your airline by the time you travel.

Be very careful if you find a suitcase for next to nothing at a place like Marshalls. Good chance it's discounted because it's over sized.

I had an Impala in Feb and I was amazed at the trunk space. They offered to upgrade us to a mid size SUV and I'm glad I didn't take it since we had so much more space in the Impala.

There were 3 adults and 2 kids. 1 huge suitcase, duffel bag and 2 umbrella strollers and they fit vertically in the trunk.

I'd recommend 1-2 of the large suitcases and then pack some of the items in duffle bags. Duffle bags are so much more flexible as far as where you can place them in the car. They can go in the backseat on the floorboards under kids' feet, and they can also squeeze into spaces in the trunk easier than the large, rigid suitcases.
