We are considering one-way flights for our next trip, and that may involve flying into Tampa and flying out of MCO in order to save money. But will the savings be lost on rental car fees and costs because we'd be returning the car to a different airport? Anyone deal with this?? Thanks for any help!

Yes, but too long ago to remember the rates... although somebody else wrote recently that there's no 'drop-off' charge in Florida.
You might want to just price out the rate on a couple of websites, or even call the rental agency of your choice - just to see if there's a difference and if it's still worth flying in/out of different airports.

I did this when i went to CA. I picked up the car in a different airport than i dropped off THey didn't give me any problems. It will most likely cost you extra to drop off in a different location and also depending on if you have to pay for mileage. Also keep in mind how much it will cost in gas. For me, the convenience of a shorter time to get home would outweigh a small difference in price, however i am always willing to drive if i am saving a significant amount. You should call the car rental and ask for a quote or at least go on line and check it out.

I would try running the reservation both ways and see what happens. We rented a car at the Dolphin last May, and then returned it to Tampa Intl. 3 days later. Can you pickup at Tampa, and then drop off at Dolphin and take DME back to MCO?

just did this in May. Pick-up in Jacksonville (3 day rental Thur to Sunday) drop off at the Dolphin resort .Had a trailblazer, cost $111.00 total.
we spent time in St Augustine because of the $39 flight down and $39 back from MCO.

Did a price for car rental at MCO to Dolphin same times and cost was about $89 .
not much of a price diff.
both with coupon

We have done the pick up in Tampa, drop off in Orlando many times. There has never been a "penalty." Usually the cost is the same or within a few dollars of the single airport drop off (I ran the search both ways to compare).

Great news! I was hoping it wouldn't be much more to return the car to a different airport. I'll run the reservation a few ways to check the prices.
The idea about returning the car to the Dolphin and taking DME back is a good one too. Thanks all!!
