Car rental question

When we fly down to WDW in May, we might set aside two or three days to go off property and tour places such as Kennedy Space Center, Silver Springs, etc., or take an airboat cruise, or something along those lines. Anyway, we will be utilizing DME, so if we do rent a car, it won't be at the airport. What I was wondering was where was the best place to rent one from? I recall reading on these boards that the Alamo locations on Epcot Resort Boulevard or at the Disney Car Care Center provide transportation to and from your resort and their respective locations. Does any other rental company provide this service? And how much of a hassle would it be to rent the car only on the days we need it, vs. renting one and having it on hand for our entire stay (that doesn't sound too fiscally responsible to me).

Thanks, as always, for the valuable information! :thumbsup2

Most will pick you up and/or drop you off at your resort. You may find that a weekly rental from MCO is actually less than a 3-4 day rental from an off airport location.
