car rental prices

Is anyone else having problems finding a reasonable price for a car rental during Christmas Week?

I don't know what to do. I need a mini-van, but they are going for $90 a day. Will the prices get better or worse as Christmas nears?

Car rental rates double a week or two prior to Thanksgiving and then rates triple after Thanksgiving & through the holidays. You may want to reserve what you need and then continue your search for a better deal.

One option is to reserve a vehicle at one of the places close to DW instead of at the airport. We are taking a taxi to our hotel on the 23rd and then will pick up our car the next morning. When we depart, we can drop off the car at the airport and there aren't any additional costs to do this. So, we will only have to pay for a taxi for our initial trip to the hotel. We are saving about $400-500 (because of current rental rates & no airport fees) by doing this.

I got a great deal with National using the American Express code off of MouseSavers. I'm paying $200 for 8 days (compact car, though) including all taxes, etc. Combine it with one of their current coupons too! Good luck!

We originally paid around $28.00/day on Thrifty and watched every day and the price went down to $15.00/day so we rebooked at the cheaper rate which went up again. The best thing to do is check them all out every day.
(that was the 1st week in November).
