I've been checking daily for car rental deals in Orlando. I need a 2 week rental (July/August). Prices have been ranging from $15 - $17 dollars per day for economy/compact. Today I checked again and every rental agency was now $40-$45 per day!:scared1: What happened? Why did everyone's rates suddenly go up? I'm terrified that I may have waited too long. Is this normal? I've usually been successful at getting a better deal closer to my vacation and not the other way around.

Yes it is normal.

Rates keep changing. They can go down overnight also.

Keep checking back.

I have a 10 day mid-size rental in the beginning of July that's at $25 per day and I've been checking daily and have not been able to lower it. But from what I've read you really need to keep checking especially the closer it gets to your travel date.

That's when I need. July 1 to the 16th and the cheapest is $35/day. All the codes I find expire on June 30th. This is ridiculous.

the car rental game is the one I hate the most about planning a trip. It is insane how the prices go up and down all the time. And frustrating. You could put the same code in at two different times during a day, and get completely different rates. That's why I start to find a rate I can live with that I can cancel with no charge, and keep shopping. Priceline and hotwire are my friends when it comes to car rentals, that is for sure! I am trying to find a rental at Myrtle Beach for mid June and can't find anything less than $250!

What shocked me the most was the amount of the increase, like 200%. My total would have been around $337 two days ago. Now it's almost $800. Who would pay that? And it wasn't just one rental agency, it was ALL the major ones. :confused3

My 8 day car rental for my May trip was hoovering around $200 until last week when it dropped to $90. So for those of you who have a trip planned several months from now don't fret. Wait till at least 3 weeks before your trip and check the rates then.
