We are taking a Disney Cruise next summer. With the higher prices for airfare, we are considering renting a car and driving one way. Then fly home at the end of our trip.

Does this make sense economically or do car rentals cost significantly more with the one way? We would be driving from St. Louis to Port Canaveral.

I know this is a year away, but thought I’d do some fact finding before SW releases dates for next July.

One way rentals especially out of state are usually quite a bit higher except for two times a year when they need extra cars in Florida for "season"- in the fall going to Florida to bring extra cars to FL and in the spring going back north to return those cars.
Since you are going in summer, I would think it might be cheaper to fly both ways.

The answer is "it depends".

Yes, I know that doesn't answer your question. The problem is that car rental rates and airline tickets vary significantly from day-to-day, and even during the day. The only way to know if it makes economic sense is for you to price out each by going to the car rental and airline websites and then compare. :teacher:

When you look at the driving part, be sure to factor in any overnight stops you might need for that drive. You'll probably want to go to google maps (or equivalent) to find out how long a drive it is. :drive:

Good luck.
