Anyone with advice for a car rental newbie???

Our trip is this December 14 -22. We are looking for a SUV or Minivan (we'll have a scooter and four adults.) I've looked every couple of weeks with various coupons and codes. I focused on the on-site rental companies at MCO as I figured the scooter and luggage and a shuttle would be a pain.

I found a SUV at Alamo for $231.51. However, the second driver would be almost an extra $80.00. My parents will take breaks, my daughter and I may not, so Dad needs to drive as well.

Where do I find good deals? Who has better extra driver rates? Oh - I have AAA, Costco & BJ memberships, an Entertainment Book and access to Dad's AMEX for codes and rates.

TIA!!

You can go to mousesavers.com and get codes for Walmart , Amex and others. On the Costco travel site you can get their codes and coupons. Both Walmart and Costco have an extra driver included free with their rates. Also on the Alamo site there's HOT DEALS. My best advice is to try different combinations and keep checking. They raise and lower their prices all the time.
If you use Dad's Amex for rates then the vehicle would have to be in his name and paid for on that card, I think.

Use the VacationOutlet.com code 698805 and the $20 off coupon from Alamo.com and get a midsize SUV for $219.62 total.

The VacationOutlet code includes a free additional driver.

Hmmm ... I'm thinking that a mid-size will not be big enough for 4 adults, all their luggage and the scooter (ECV, right?). I think a regular sized minivan would be big enough if the last row of seats can be put down and the luggage can fit around the ECV. I wouldn't go with anything smaller.

If you are staying onsite you can use the Magical express which will transport your lugguge and you and scooter. You would check in your luggage at the airport when you fly and not have to deal with it again until it arrives in your hotel room, as to the scooter when you call to make your ME reservations tell them you will have a scooter and need accessible transport, or it can also be carried under the bus.
If you then feel you NEED a car at disney I suggest you use Alamo and call their medical line to request a stow and go minivan. In this van the seats fold down into the floor leaving room for the scooter, you can rent this from the car care center in Disney World, that is exactly what I am not on my trip in a couple weeks.

Also keep in mind that a mid size SUV might be higher to get into than a minivan. That may or may not be a problem for your person using the ECV, depending on why they are using the SUV. I know for my FIL, getting into something so high was really tough on his knees and hips.

Have you talked to a person at Alamo about the additional driver? We always use Budget, but spouses/life patners are exempt from the additional driver fee with them. So if you haven't, double check that the fee would apply.

Use Costco ID 675899 and Internet Coupon AD3829MRB $25 off weekly to get a midsized SUV for $202.12 inc. taxes, fees and an additional driver.

Another option is AMEX ID 7013604 and Internet Coupon AD3829MRB $25 off weekly to get a midsized SUV for $183.31 inc. taxes and fees but without an additional driver.
