Remember seeing a mention of a rental agency at or near Aulani. Does anyone know which agency and where they are?

TIA

Alamo has a desk at Aulani. When we were there in September, it was located with the Holoholo Tours and Travel Desk near the main lobby. Since we rented a car for the week at the airport, I didn't compare prices for daily rentals from the Alamo desk at Aulani.

Thanks! We are also renting from the airport and using Alamo so that's great to know because we may want to add another driver part way through the trip.

We rented from Alamo at HNL as well. If you are a Costco member and are renting through them, you can add another driver for free. Just an FYI.

Beware that Alamo is not near the other rental car agencies, so you have to pay special attention when returning the car. You don't follow the regular airport signs for car returns...you have to go a different route to Alamo.

I did a quick search today and 8 days is $400. That seemed high! I'll keep looking but if anyone has any ideas, I'm a member of AAA and Costco.

That does seem high. Did you do your search through the costco.com website?

Assuming there are no cancellation or rebooking charges, my advice is to book the best rate you can find now, but periodically check to see if rates drop before your trip.

Car rental rates can be tricky in Hawaii. When we booked our Aulani stay at the 7-month mark, we also booked an 8-day car rental with Alamo. At that time, the best rate we could find was about $470 (tax, fees included) for a midsize SUV. The rates for an economy or compact car were actually higher than the rate for the SUV. We kept checking the Alamo website as our trip got closer. Then, about 6 weeks before our trip, I noticed Alamo was offering a midsize car for $139 (tax, fees included) for the same 8 day period. I canceled my original reservation and rebooked the cheaper rate.

Good luck!!

WOW that's a good rate! Definitely worth watching on a regular basis. I looked at the Costco rates the other day and for a week in August a mid-size from the airport was just under $300. Although I've gotten much better with my packing we have found that most times the smaller cars don't have enough room in the trunk for our luggage so have had to upgrade at the counter before.:headache: At the same time the gasoline is sooo expensive in HI I don't want to get something that drinks too much gas either!

the best i've been able to find is just over 400 for an SUV for a week... that's from the airport. the alamo at aulani seems to be double that or worse.

Wow, we paid less than $200 for an SUV for 10 days from Alamo last June. The rental is offsite but we found the shuttles very efficient.
