Car Rental/Insurance Question

I called my insurance agent (Allstate) today just to double check that my auto insurance would cover me in a rental car. She said everything would be covered except any fees the rental car agency would charge for the car being out of service (if I were to have an accident). She said some rental car companies charge this fee. How do I find out which ones? Has anyone heard of this or know anything about it? We were going to rent through National and only for 1 day. Do you think I'd need to get the insurance National offers than? Or just skip it? How much would they charge for the car being out of service? (What's the chances I'd even have to worry about this anyway? I know, I'm a worrywort!) Can anyone help me? I'm completely new at this and confused! Thanks!

Do you have a gold or platnium visa? It usually covers loss of use.

I just have a regular Capital One Visa and Chase Disney Visa, but maybe one of these would cover it. I'll have to check it out.

Well, let's see . . . you could call and ask them if they have a "loss of use fee." Like the PP's have said, check to see if your CC covers the fee in the event of loss. Most rental companies charge this fee. So if their car is out of service for repairs because you crashed, they will charge you the rental fee they would have gotten for each day they are unable to rent the car because it's being fixed.

Should I just call the National 800 number or the Car Care Center at WDW? I'll also call my credit card company. Thanks!

I would just call the credit card company to see if they cover loss of use. If not, then contact National to see how much they charge for the insurance. You only have it one day, it would be worth the peace of mind.
