Car Rental for Dummies...

I mentioned in another post that we are planning to include a two day visit to Universal on our next trip but will still stay at our disney resort. We are relying on Disney transportation throughout our stay but would like to rent a car for the two days we go off site. I'm not really sure how the whole process works. Will they drop off the car at the resort or do we need to find a way there to pick it up? Should I use the "Car care" place next to MK or something else. Oh heck, could someone lay out the A, B, C's on how this would go for an obvious car rental dummy please? TIA.

We used Alamo at the Care care centre. We called and they sent a van over to pick us up from the resort (CBR) and took us to the care care centre, (suggest getting a map of the area, we got lost taking the car back). When you go to return the car, go up to the tool booth just outside of MK and tell the attendant that you are returning the car, and he will wave you through. After turning in the car, they will shuttle you back to your resort. The only gotcha is that you have to wait for the prices to go down....we paid $35 for a daily rental, now for april 2007 they are $95

We use the Dolphin location instead of Car Care Center. For us , it is easier. We rented there many times in the past. Say we go to Animal Kingdom that day, when we leave we jump on the bus to Dolphin & pick up the car, etc.

If we are going over to MGM or Epcot we take the water shuttle over & pick up the car....

It works better for us, but it is only open until 4pm.
