Car rental:Does anyone know?

My whole family will be going to Orlando, staying offsite, and will need two mini vans. Can I rent both vans in my name? I want to pay for both with my credit card. My son ( 28 ) will be the driver of one van and my husband and I will drive the other. I can add an additional driver free so if I put my name on with my son's would that work?

My guess is that would be fine with the rental car company. I would check into if this would be ok with your insurance company. If you are like me we decline to purchase extra insurance on the rental car because our personal auto policy will extend to the rental. I work for a major insurance co in Texas and if you were my insured and called me about this I'd have to tell you that no the rental your son was driving would not be covered under your policy. (I'm guessing that since he's 28 he's no longer a member in your household or a listed driver on your policy) Believe me I'm not trying to give you advice about your policy - just a heads up to call your auto insurance company and see what you are covered for.

Thanks, I didn't really think about the insurance having to cover two vehicles at the same time. I'll have to look into it and see. My son may have coverage on his van at home to cover a rental.

If you're renting both vans in your name and securing the rentals with your credit card, you can be listed as the primary driver for both vehicles, with your son as the additional driver on one of the minivans and your husband on the other one.

But call your insurance company just to be sure.

A few years ago, we could not get a decent price on a minivan, so we rented 2 intermediates. Both were in my name, I drove one, DH drove the other. No problems.
