Car Rental deals

Does anyone have a code or deal that can share for a car rental company in Mid November....
I have outruled using Payless because of so much uncertaintly w/ customer complaints and they are offsite at MCO. Plus, we are traveling with my DS who is 3 - don't need any hassles w/ car rental.
We have used Hertz w/ our AAA and got a free car seat - saves $50 - and we get free second driver. Looks like that will cost us $273 for the week for an economy size...
Is that about right or can I do better?

You can absolutely do better.

Right now for our November trip our reservation is for about $184 for the 12th-17th from dollar for a mid-size. My DH is a big check-every-day-and-switch-every-day reserver, and doesn't expect to pay anywhere near this for our final reservation. We will also be traveling with a 3 year old; we have a car seat that we use strictly for travel, so we'll have that too, so we don't need to get one from the car rental company.

I'd suggest mousesavers.com for codes, or if you have an entertainment book, they have tons of codes. Most of the car rental codes in the entertainment book are also good through the end of the year (whereas most of the coupons in the book expire 11/1/10) you could get away with getting last year's book for a deep discount.

We've found that Hertz is almost always the most expensive, so we never rent with them.

Best I have found so far is a compact from Alamo for $166 and change incl taxes and fees, for Thanksgiving week. And that's double the rate I have for a Mid size that I am picking up tomorrow 9/4, for a week.

I have a ressie with Avis, for a SUV for that same week, actually only six days, for around $190 at the moment. I'm not a fan of using Avis since it's a 'here are the keys, and that's the exact care you get' company, I much prefer Alamo and National.

Try Dollar without promo codes. The City Special for a compact is 175.00 after taxes the week of 11/6. Hope this helps

Try going to the transporation info link on the wdwinfo page (top of the page on disboards.com, click on car rental info and then the Budget ad "special rate for DisBoards members". I have a full size week long rental for $186 taxes and fees included, going through that!

Hertz - compact $238 (includes child seat and tax) - AAA - Gold club - spouse can drive too (free).

not sure what the city promo is - i typed city in the discount box and it was invalid for me...

for 11/7-14 - base price came up at $115 for a compact - NOT BAD, i thought, but after adding a toddler car seat - $16 a day or $72/wk (yikes!) and taxes, fees - it was $256!!!

CRAZY!

just the fact that they charge so much for the car seat makes me NOT want to rent from them!!

gonna be hard to beat using our AAA for Hertz, since we get a free carseat and free extra driver...

right now, I have two ressies - both at $238 - Hertz compact and Enterprise Compact. hoping to do better....

I think you're supposed to but I've never had them ask to see my card. Personally though I wouldn't chance it because I know the one time I don't have my card they'll ask for it.

for our upcoming I'm saving more on the rental than the cost of the membership so it's worth the $50 even if I never go to Costco.
