Car Rental Deals Not For FL?

I have always come to this board for the great car rental deals when we go to WDW.

However, I just moved to SC and am driving back to NJ in June, I was thinking of renting a car because I am putting too many miles on my car.

My question - has anyone received a great rate on renting a car but not in FL? I was trying last night and it seems like it would cost me about $400 for 10 days -

Deals are harder to come by in cars these days. Use AAA and other discounts to help.

For your plan, make sure you will get unlimited miles and that there are no restrictions against going to other states. Rent at a non-airport location and you will likely save on fees.

Think hard about insurance costs and hassles if you get in an accident or get incidental damage. Sure your own insurance covers it if your coverages are equivalent but the car rental company wants their money up front and you to go through a lengthy process to recover. And they often try to get you to cover "loss of use" which your insurance company often won't cover.

It seems that all the car rental places are at the airport, but I will research more.
