Car Rental deals? Is ALAMO the only one?

I'm leaving to Disney on February 26th - coming back March 5th... I've been watching car rental rates, as I hate depending on the buses at the resorts. I've been told ALAMO is the ONLY place actually on Disney Property that rents cars.... they are the official car rental of Disney. Anyways, long story short - I did a search for a price... it came back a grand total of 231.11, went to book it, for the 7 days, and the session timed out... I took too long. Tried again, and the price went up to over $350.00 for a week rental.

Does anyone out there know how to get the cheap rate back?

And is it true that Alamo is the ONLY car rental on Disney Property?

I'm desperate to find a good deal!

But 350.00 to rent a car for a week is outrageous!

Help?

You can get other rentals that are close enough to WDW to make all the difference.

I use the Dollar (MCOS01) across the street from the DTD marketplace bus stop.

Most others are available at the other hotels close to DTD.
Enterprise is a short bit away and will pickup and drop off.

For the Dollar the standard code of KISS2 normally gets you some good rates.

And welcome to the DIS

National is also on Disney property in the same building as Alamo.
Check Mousesavers.com for discount codes at Alamo and National.

National and Alamo share the same office at the Care Care Center, and both offer shuttle service from the resorts to the CCC to pick up or return the car.

We used National last October and got an awesome rate. I'm planning to use them again for our next trips.

One of the National centers closed. I'm not sure if it was the CCC or the Dophin. But the Alamo is still in both places.

I checked for Dollar Rental, do they pick you up? We will be staying at the Pop Century Hotel, I even had a coupon for 40% off of any hotel and I still chose the pop, I liked it the last time we were there. Anyhow, back to the subject.... I tried to find a number to call Dollar, and couldn't.... not for the location across from downtown disney. So, you said you rented from them before...so how do you get your car, and get back to drop it off. When we rented from National (NO, they are no longer at Disney... I'm bummed!) they came and picked us up, took us to the car, and we were on our way. Same thing, we droped car off, they took us back to our hotel.

Will Dollar do the same thing?

Do you have a phone # for the location across from Downtown Disney?

I need to find the best rate for a car rental from February 26 - March 5th - pick up and drop off at 2 p.m. - both Mondays.....

This is driving me nuts! Last trip to Disney, I planned 6 months in advance.....this is a spur of the moment trip, and I am leaving in 2 1/2 weeks...ugh!

So any help anyone can provide by giving me codes, or phone#'s will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just took the bus to DTD market place walked across the street then up their drive way they are the very 1st hotel on Hotel plaza. When returning I got gas at the Hess station dropped off the car and DD and I took the DTD bus to the Cont.R then monorail to MK.

Now when I used Enterprise in Oct they picked me up and dropped me off at POFQ

This is what I have for Dollar but I tink it's a general Fl # 407-583-8000 fax 407-8278973 address is Grosvenor resort 1850 hotel plaza Blvd. 33283.

This is whats on my confirmation Sheet I have for our June trip.

THANK YOU!

I called the # you gave, and they said that they do indeed pick customers up from any Disney Property... I told them I was staying at Pop Century and they said, YES, we do pick up from Pop Century.... so I'm going to try and go with Dollar.

The only thing that concerns me now, is they give an estimated charge...but in fine print talk about all sorts of surcharges..... is that something that they add at the END and not tell you about until the END.... so your really paying a ton more!!!

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

I have used them 3 times with a forth ressie in hand. I do it all from their web-sight and have never been charged anything but that. I do fill my gas right before taking it back . The last 2 times they were busy and Never even looked over the car just signed my sheet and away I went.

I have a Vibe for a week for around $105 and as all we need it for is to go to the store or a quick trip to a park we don't need luggage room or a big car.

Another obstacle in planning to pickup a car at DTD is that they only open til 5pm. We plan on going to Disney Quest on pickup day and Shopping/Dinner on our dropoff day. There is also less tax/fees when you are not renting from the airport.

Grovsnor Hotel is directly across the street from the Marketplace Bus stop.

How did you get the Vibe for a week for $105. Did you use a code?

KISS2 is an on going code from one of the Orlando convention sights. Sometimes it gives a better price and sometimes it doesn't

Great.......thanks
Also do you need all that extra insurance/protection?

That is totally up to you.

Between my Ins and the Credit card ins I'm covered so I have it set up with Dollar Express to decline all.

You really need to make that decision as I use to get it all the time and then found out I was just wasting my money for a few extra minutes to go over the car at pickup and dropoff.

Check with your credit card that you use for the rental and your own Ins.

They also need to cover Loss of Use. This is where the rental companies get you they try to charge you each day that the car is out of service and there's no way to really prove it.

I called my car insurance comp. and they said that with a special rider for $30 I would be covered for rental cars in the states. (I am from Canada) I would check with your insur. dealer as it may save you $100 or so.:cool1:
Good luck!!!

How did you request to be picked up at your hotel? Did you call and book it in person or through the website? I can get a good rate with Dollar as well through the web site with the KISS2 code. We are staying at All Star Music.

The best deal through Alamo is using the Costco ID# and $25.00 off dicount coupon. Alamo will not ask you for your Costco membership because I used it last March. Prices were much lower last year compared to this year. Go to the Costco.com web site and click on travel and rental cars. The price is $292US including all taxes for 1 week and a 2nd driver for free. Other companies charge $8.00 a dya for 2nd driver and so does Alamo but not through Costco.

Hi. I just tried your dates and the best price I got was at dollar.com for intermediate size car $229. Dollar is at the airport onsite. When booking there are tabs at the top of the screen. Hit specials (it opens up the promo box on the screen). Put in KISS2 as your promo code (kissimmee discount code). Let me know if you need further help or questions.

Have a great trip.pixiedust:

I will be using Eagle Rent A Car on my upcoming trip...Apparently it has the cheapest rates in Orlando since it does not advertise? Also they are picking me up and dropping me off at me hotel so hopefully that works out. Has anyone else used Eagle?

The Car Care Centre only has Alamo; National closed their location there.
