Also, I see a lot of other coupon codes that expire in Feb, March and April. Would I be better off to wait until there are other coupons for May - or is this as good as its gonna get?

If I were you I'd go ahead and reserve the car and keep an eye out to see if the prices go down. They do not require a Credit Card number to hold the car. I'd rather book now and not loose the low price than wait until closer to time and pay more than what you would have paid tonight =)

I think we'll be ok with only one driver as we're only using the car for a trip to the grocery store, maybe to the parks, and to drive over to Cocoa Beach for a couple days after WDW. so we won't be in it very much. I'll just make sure to Sign DH up to be the driver

Make sure you made the reservation in your husbands name. The name on the reservation is the person who is the driver. You can use the Walmart contract ID usually in conjunction with other coupons from other sources (Entertainment, Costco). It includes an extra driver for only a few dollars more than what you have now.

Do also realize that the current SUNPROMO offer is only valid through April 30th 2010. Not sure if you will have any issues using it in May.

Also be sure to use SaveTime to fill out all of your information before you leave for your trip, this will make checking in at the kiosk a little quicker.

Ok - I reserved the car. Feel good knowing at least I got something. Hoping I can get a cheaper rate if a deal comes out before then - wishful thinking, I'm sure!

Also joined Emerald Club at National - but did so too quickly with my auto form filler, I put everything in DH's name except the most important one - BIRTHDAY! (I'm not 25 yet!) Whoops...and you have to call and sign something to change it. But, National rates seem higher than Alamo no matter what coupons/contract IDs I try (thanks mousesavers) - is that usual case?

You don't need the physical coupon since it is an ecoupon. You can go to Costco website and the travel section and you will find the car rentals.

I just got a fullsize thru Alamo using Costco ID# SUNPROMO and coupon code AF4499SDY for $224 5/12-5/17. That's the best I could find so far. I hope as the time gets closer, there'll be other coupons/special deals.

Not sure if the free additional driver is important to you because the SUNPROMO code does not include the free additional driver which runs on average about $10/day extra. If you use the Costco Code or Walmart Code the total is $233.09 or an extra $9.00 but you get the free additional driver.

I was just able to change my reservation with using Costco id #7014627 and coupon AF4499SDY 5/12-5/17 full size car for $151 (second driver included!). That's additional savings of $75 over my original reservation. Yay!

I'm happy with the deal I got with Alamo for 05/27 - 06/04. We got an compact car (it's just the two of us) for $162 including taxes/fees. We used 7014615 / AD7937SDJ, which is a visa deal.

I was pleased with my original rate at Alamo, but when I checked today it had even went done further. A mid-size 10 day rental 5/29 - 6/8 using Wal Mart ID 428448 and $40. coupon from the Entertainment book had my base price at $119. and the total price at $179. I call that a deal!


Of course, my greedy side would like to see it go even lower, but I am very pleased with this price.

Thanks so much! I don't know why I missed this but I just looked at my ressie and using this will save us another $25 plus give us an extra driver for free! I'm up to saving about $70 dollars thanks to everyone's help!! =)

These car rental companies drive me nuts! I went on Alamo's site, used some of the coupons/codes listed here and got a price. Just for kicks I went to Budget, did same, got price... higher. So back to Alamo, did same, same car etc... price went up about $100!! It wasn't even 5 minutes! Figuring I entered something wrong, I did it again and it didn't even offer the boxes to enter the codes etc!! I remember the run around I got while booking the car last year so I'm not looking forward to this again but it's a necessary evil I guess!

Also, I am not flying in or out of Olrando, we are flying in and out of Tampa for various reasons. And also staying for 11 days.

What's the deal with these companies???

I hear ya. My head starts to spend after an hour of combining codes and coupons and still not getting anywhere.

I do think sometimes, if you hit it just right, you can get a great price. Sometimes I think hit or miss is better than all the codes. Oh well - I still have a coupld months to get a killer deal!

My husband is not comfortable with using the Costco deal when we don't have a Costco account. I know you said that they never check it but if they did on the way out of the garage, well, what a way to start a vacation...!! I looked up the price of the membership, which is $50, and it's still less money than any of the others I've priced. With the additional $50 sign up fee, I got a mid size car for 11 days for $233! Thanks!
Lastly, I was wondering if my husband is on the right track here since when I looked up Costco memberships, there isn't a Cosco at all in Maine! Would that send up a red flag???

Personally based on my experience I wouldn't worry about the guy in the garage asking for membership and he wouldn't know anyhow that there was no Costco in Maine. Have you tried Walmart codes 428448 or 430710 since it may give you the same discount?

Anyone have any luck with a good deal for a minivan? It seems like some of those codes aren't working for me and I just can't find a good deal. We go May 1-8. And minivans are so darn expensive! Thanks!
