HI there,
Wondering if anyone knows if I could fit three kids in the back seat of a Chevy Equinox with two of them in booster seats. Keep in mind heat in FL in June.

The minivan rate is only $20 more so I am guessing that is my best bet, but $20 is $20.

I just bought an equinox last year... They have the most rear seat leg room of any SUV in its class... double the leg room of a suburban (relative has one). If you don't need as much leg room but need more trunk space... there is a bar under the backseat that you pull up on and slide the seat forward.... exact same operation as a non-power front seat.

As for fitting 3 boosters... you should not a have problem at all... I typically have 3 full grown adults in the backseat comfortably (don't get me wrong they don't have room to stretch out and read the newspaper.. but they are not on each others laps.) I have even had an infant carrier, infant/toddler covertible, and 1 adult in the middle of the back seat.

Just wondering about the luggage question. How much can you cram into the "trunk" cargo area? :wizard:

Mky (likes to over-pack) princess:

My Aunt has an Equinox and its a nice truck. Shouldnt have too much problem with fitting the kids, but luggage, i would say, is limited to about 2 Full Size bags , 2 or 3 small check bags and a few carry ons...Truthfully, i think you will be just fine with the Equinox....

I have yet to fill the truck with luggage... but i can tell you that in order to fit my niece's graco duoglider stroller (without removing any parts ie. sunshades or snack trays)... I have to slide the rear seat forward about 6-8 inches (still more than enough backseat room to accomidate a rear facing infant carseat & not having to move or squish front seat passengers... and it fits in (barely) on an angle... there is still room left around it... for a full day of mall shopping... just ackward to fit the stroller.

I WILL TAKE MY LUGGAGE OUT TODAY AND FIT AS MUCH AS I CAN... CHECK MY POST THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING FOR AN UPDATE

oK... Here is the update...

Trunk space measurements are 36" wide... 30" deep... and 26" high (you can go higher with some small bags but the rear window slants in toward the roof... kinda the way a minivan does. Also you can slide the rear seat forward up to about 8" making the depth 38"

I can fit 3 large suitcases (the ones on wheels) 28" high, 12" deep, 19" wide
along with 2 carry on suitcases (again on wheels) 21" high, 10" deep, 15" wide
** this configuration was by putting 3 large suite cases on their side with wheels against the backseat and 2 carryons laying on their back on top of the large suitcases again wheels against the backseat.

This does not block your rear view mirror view... If you don't mind blocking the rear view... you could get a couple backpacks in also.

Keep in mind that you are not guaranteed a specific model. I rent with Avis often and they show a Pontiac G6 as their intermediate, in probably 10 rentals I have yet to get one.
