Please move if this should be on a different board.
We are planning to use ME but want to have a car on two separate days while at WDW in Sept. We will be at OKW and I would appreciate any input on whether it is better to use the car care center rental desk or the dolphin for an 8am rental. I am trying to plan how to get to the desk that early. We have always rented at the airport for the whole stay but this time the cost is almost $500 and we really only need the car for 2 trips which will be about $150 for a minivan and child seats.

Since you need one by 8am, I think the CCC would be better suited for you. I believe they open at 6am so you can call for a shuttle pickup at OKW early, and be on your way by 8am.

The only way to get to the Dolphin that early is to take an early bus to MGM (good on an EMH morning) and walk/boat back to the Dolphin OR take a cab there.

HTH!!! :teeth:

Thanks- that's just what I needed to know. I wasn't certain how to get to the CCC but had anticipated having to take a bus to the early entry park and then get a bus back to the dolphin but having someone pick us up would be even better.
Thanks again.

If you book on line, make sure you print your confirmation letter with the price. I used the CCC a few years ago and they had "no record" of my reservation, I did NOT have my letter and my $33 daily rate cost me $68.

Oh, by the way, I have not, nor will I ever use Alamo again. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice and reinforcing something I already knew.
I always take the confirmation letter and it was a good thing I did a couple of weeks ago as the additional driver that was included on my confirmation page did not show up on her screen and when she put it in the reservation the price went up $47. I finally got it corrected. We did have a wait getting out of the airport as only one line was open to exit and the person 2 cars ahead was having some kind of issue. That said = I did go to the desk at the Dolphin a couple of years ago to add an extra driver a couple of days after renting the car at the airport and she put him on the rental and didn't charge any extra= just said Merry Christmas. The other thing is I want my SWA FF credits and I don't think there is another car rental at Disney so I am stuck. Last time I looked it was also considerably more for any other company as I am looking for a car for Christmas week and those are out of sight right now.

The shuttle to CCC runs every hour from the various resorts. I would call the day before to make a reservation for the shuttle, and see what time the pickup is for OKW.

There are some different car rental places in the some of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard if you can figure out a way to get there.

Also, car rentals are for 24 hour periods, so you could pick up the night before, and have it at the resort, just as long as you could return it in the 24 hour period.

This is good information. I never realized you could rent a car at WDW with shuttle service provided! This will be helpful to me in December. I love the Dis.

Rented from CCC in November for just one day and the shuttle both ways was perfect...picked me up at OKW to go get the car and then dropped my whole group off at EPCOT (which is where we wanted to go) when we returned the car. No complaints.

Rented a car at the Dolphin for a couple of days the last 2 time down. Once we were staying at Port Orleans and they picked me up and the next time was staying at BCV and just walked over. Both time no problems.

To play it safe, call the day before to make the ressie for the shuttle!

That way they will be there.

Thanks for the great inof everyone- I didn't know about the shuttle to both places so will plan accordingly. Hope everyone has had great trips and will have many more to come.
