Car Rental by HOJO's?

We are flying in the May 31st and will be at HOJO's until the 4th of June. Then we want to rent a car and take our kids to see the Ocean and will be driving to Phoenix. We are flying home from Phoenix after visiting family.

Is there a place to rent a car close to HOJO's or are we better off taking a shuttle back to the airport to pick up a car?

There is a rental place in DTD, just do not remember the name. Alamo??

Yes it is Alamo. It's down by the AMC theater in DTD.
I suggest looking at Costco.com. We've gotten some great deals by booking through their sight. Also, it will be much cheaper to NOT go back to the airport to rent. You will have much higher taxes and fees renting at the airport.

If you ask at Hojo's, there is a place within walking distance that they will refer you and used to give you a coupon. I think it's the opposite way of DL, back down Harbor. (Grandpa rented a convertible there!). I know one of the hotels closer to the DL cross walk also has a car rental place onsite. I'm not sure if you'd need a reservation or if they'd talk a walk up like the place Hojo's recommended.

The walk to DTD is doable, much more so than heading back to the airport! There is an avis on Katella and probably a Hertz there too. Not walking distance, but I know they will take you back to your hotel or DL when you bring the car back. The important thing to ask when booking a car at these offsite places is: what time are you open! Some do allow a night drop where you just put the keys in a box and leave the car, but then they can't shuttle you back to your hotel. The Avis closes at 4pm, so I know I always have to drop by car off prior to that.

We rented from Enterprise last year when we were there. they came and picked us up and drove us back to the hotel after. Not sure which one it was but they were somewhere around Chapman and/or Katela

We used Budget through costco, we got a really good rate. They were close to the conference center, so not too far. They dropped us off too.
