I noticed the car rental sign at the BWPPI. Has anyone ever used the service there? What car rental company is it? How were the rates? We were thinking of going down to San Deigo one day, and what could be better than picking up and dropping off your rental car right at your hotel.

I was going to ask the same question.

I'll share with you what I found out so far. The rental agency is Select Rent-A-Car. I haven't been able to find any reviews so far. I talked to one of their representatives the other night and reserved an 8-passenger van for $79 a day. (We need the van for 2 days) They open at 7:00 AM, so our van won't be ready for us until 7:30...which is fine

He told me that a car would be $45 a day.

If you are registered at the hotel, they just take your name and the dates you want the car. Because we're renting the van, he asked that I call a week before we head down there.

Here's another idea.......this is what we did.
We rented from Alamo, as they have an Alamo outlet right in DTD, right in front of the Disney hotel. We walked over there and picked up our car. By reserving in advance on their webiste, we got a good rate and were able to use our entertainment coupon too!:yay:

So where do the have the cars in relation to Alamo.....are they in a parking lot in DTD? We are thinking about doing this for our next family trip. Very nice that there is a rental place in DTD...

Bummer. I went to Alamo's website at DTD and they only have an 7 passenger van...we need an 8 passenger. :sad1:

Too bad. It would've been very convenient. The cars are in a parking lot right there next to the Alamo office there. I think it may be some kind of pay parking lot for hotel residents, but not sure.

You may want to double check that you will have actually have an 8 passenger van from the other rental place. In the past when I needed a van that held more than 7, we were told we needed to get the next size up which was a 15 passenger van. They told me they didn't make vans that held 8 passengers. This is fyi...I'd look into it further to make sure...

We're renting a Toyota Sienna which is 8 passengers, but the back seat that is supposed to hold 3 passengers is pretty small. It looks like it would fit 3 kids easily, but we have 7 adults and 1 5yo.

I'm seriously considering going back to renting 2 cars at SNA. We'd rather have one vehicle that we can all fit into comfortably, but I can't find any agenicies that rent them at SNA.

You could also check on the Hertz Local Edition that is on Katella. They were nice enough to come pick us up and take us to their office to rent the car (that we later returned to the airport).

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

I found out that we can rent a 12-passenger van in the lobby of the Anaheim Plaza Hotel which is an easy walk from BWPPI. It's $20 more than the 8-passenger van we were going to rent, but lots roomier.

DH joked around and said he didn't know if he could handle that big of a rig in LA traffic. Yeah, right! He used to drive double-trailered 18-wheelers downtown Portland. He also drives our 32' motor-home all the time. I don't think he's going to have much of a problem.

Besides, our SIL drives an 18-wheeler for a living everyday here in Seattle.

I think we've got our bases covered. :rotfl:
