Car Rental advice

We will be needing a car in July 2012; we haven't rented since 2010. We will be picking up offsite as we will take the ME to our Disney hotel. After the Disney trip we are headed to World Marriott for a convention.

When will be a good time to look for a car that we will need in july...and what is a decent price currently for a standard car....I know how to play the coupon watch and apply game for the most part because prior to ME we always rented...but any current advice would be appreciated.

Ususally, booking one this far in advance will net you a decent rate. Not great, just decent. Go ahead and make one now and check periodically prior to your dates of travel. You'll notice the rates jump way up at about the 6 month prior mark. About 4-5 weeks in ahead they will drop, but there's no harm in playing with some numbers now and modifying as it drops.

Thanks...the prices seem so hi but I haven't rented in years....I can get a standard for about $225 for 4 days...

Ouch-I rented in July 2010 and had 12 nights for $221. I rented in March 2011 and paid $211 for 8 nights. I just want to give you a point of reference.

I'm looking for July 2012, too. We are taking ME to the hotel, but would like to get a car for the second half of our trip. I am finding $235 as a base rate, $295 with taxes. Yuck!!!!!
