I recently booked a car for our honeymoon (12/02/12 - 12/14/12) for $255.

This was through FOX car rentals. After reading some ATROCIOUS reviews online of this company, and finding out that it's an off site pick up, I kept searching.

I just found a rental through EZ Rent-A-Car for $285 total for the same time frame.

Does anyone have any experience with these two companies?

Also, is this about the price I'm probably going to end up paying, or as it gets closer, will these prices drop?

Keep in mind I'm trying to stay with the "pick up at the terminal" option, as this is our honeymoon, and the less thinking/effort, the better. :thumbsup2

You are looking a tad too early for any good prices on car rental. You should probably wait a few months before you start looking in ernest. EZ is on site at MCO, I have no experience with them, I work for another company.

Yeah, I figured as much. I just didn't know what would be considered a "good price" for that long of a rental.

It really depends on when you are going. The prices tend to be lower around the time you are going than say, now. Try Mousesavers.com for codes and coupons.

I agree that you should avoid Fox. They may be the cheapest, but there is a reason for that. I am speaking from experience.

You can book the best price now and keep checking. If prices drop, rebook. Keep in mind that prices may drop closer to rental, but cars also sell out.

I've got 2 reservations booked for our March trip. Minivans always seem to go up in price, so I found some super-cheap rates and reserved them now.

One is with Fox, and the other is with Sixt? I've seen really bad reviews about Fox, and mixed ones about Sixt? I know they're both a shuttle ride off-site, and am OK with that, as sometimes it's still quicker than toting your luggage through the all the parking garages.

Can anyone offer some more detailed info about why Fox is so bad? Anyone with a good experience? Same with Sixt. I need some real opininons, good and bad before I decide which one to cancel.

The parking garages are a short walk from where you would be picked up by the shuttles for off site. It is rarely quicker, trust me. There is only one garage on each side. You will still have to walk to your car offsite.

As to an opinion about either Fox or Sixt, I don't have one and if I did, the fact that I work for a competitor would prevent me from stating them. Would not look good.

If you read Fox's reviews on yelp, they sound atrocious. Mostly hidden fees and cars not being available.

Although this is a bit convoluted we have gotten some great rates this year.

First go to KLM airlines and sign up for the frequent flier plan. You don't have to buy anything. Once you're done you can get access to their "Partners" I think the term is. One of them is National Car Rental. Under there you can get a contract code number.

Then go over to National Car and plug in the the number where it says, I think, contract id, and look for your car. Almost a 50% discount and free CDW among other things. If you do want to use National sign up for the Emerald Isle.
