Hi this is our first DVC vacation & we are doing WDW, then the cruise and then some more days in WDW.

My DH is stressing about where we will be able to leave the hire car while we are on the cruise. We are staying at Saratoga and want to catch the Disney coach down for our 4 day cruise.pirate: When we come back we still have another 3 days in resort so thought we could just leave the car in the carpark.

Does anyone know if this is ok please? :confused3

I'm not sure if you can or not so I cannot help you there but, it is a very easy drive to port and I would think driving and paying for parking at port is less expensive than the transfers.

I think the official word is no but we found that when we asked to do this at Boardwalk back in 2006 they let us. We were staying at Boardwalk both before and after the cruise. At check-in we told the front desk that we'd like a parking pass to be dated to our check-out date when we came back. They checked with their manager and gave it to us. We did it because we had a large group that had booked a bus to/from the cruise and the cost for each of us was only about $14. I agree that depending on how many people you have going that it might be cheaper to drive over and pay for parking as opposed to booking DCL transfers for the group.

Do you even need a hire car? You can take DME from the airport to WDW. A bus from WDW to the cruise and back and latter DME back to the airport.

If you really need a car, why not rent when you get to WDW. Return it during your cruse and rent again when you return to WDW. Why pay for rental days when you will not be using the car?

We have tried all of the rental car companies and have found Dollar to be more very convenient and cheaper. You can walk to their office from Saratoga.

Hi, were doing a very similar trip in December. I asked the CM when we booked as we were going to book the coach to take us to the port (theres 7 of us going). I cant recall the exact price per person for the coach trip but i was shocked how expensive it was and it was each way too. I asked about the parking at the dock side and it was much much more reasonable. So were bascially staying at SSR, driving the hire car and parking it dockside, returning from cruise, and taking the hire car back to stay at OKW.

I think i was told it was only a 45/60 min drive from disney to the port. HTH:thumbsup2

Parking Fees at Port Canaveral:
$15/day for vehicles up to 20 feet in length
$8/half day for vehicles up to 20 feet in length
$26/day for vehicles over 20 feet
The total fee for the time the vehicle will be parked is due on entry. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Traveler’s Checks issued in U.S. dollars.

When we cruised we found it was cheaper for us to rent a car - turn it in at the car rental agency - they gave us a ride to the terminal. When we came back - they picked us up and brought us to get the car. The rental agency was less than 5 minutes away from the terminal right on the main drag. Very easy drive from Disney to the Port.

I don't remember what rental car company I used. But I do remember it was recommended by the people on the Cruise Board.

Yes this is the best way to do it. The cost to rent a car at the airport and turn it in at the rental car location by the port was $26. We rented from Budget. Budget has 3 shuttle vans that will take you to the ship. When you arrive the shuttle drive will tell you where you can find the shuttle van when the cruise ship returns and they will take you back to the rental counter at the port where you can rent another car. So for 2 one way rentals it cost us a total of $52. It gives you the flexibility to stop at a store if you forgot something. You control what time you arrive at the ship.
The big thing is while you have the car you can eat off property and the money you save can be significant.:woohoo:
