Anyone here have one? I'm looking to buy one as a Christmas present for the hubby. Anything I should look for?

Which one do you own and do you like it? Do you wish it did something else?

I have a Cobra nav system that I bought at Circuit City last year. It works good and has a good mount to the windshield. :thumbsup2

We do not have one...but my DH has been looking at them A LOT and everytime he mentions Garmin as being a great one. We just do not have the $$ for them right now.

My DH just chose the Garmin Nuvi 660. He did a lot of research and is very happy with it. I'm not a gadgetimaniac, but even I like it. I think the MSRP is $799 but you can find it on sale around $700.

Good luck!

I bought DH one for Christmas last year and he LOVES it!! I've always had one factory installed in my car, so it was his turn. I bought him the Garmin Streetpilot 2720. It's AWESOME!!! It has voice commands just like mine, and it doesn't need to be suctioned to anything to install. It's REAL easy to move from car to car (not that we need to). DH usually takes it with him when he travels for business since it's so easy to move around.....

OUR local newspaper yesterday had STAPLES.COM selling THE hottest item of the 2006 season...yup it is a GPS for your automobile. Who knew STAPLES for GPS but it is a fact!!!

It is called the FINEDRIVE 400, the price is $299.00. There was a huge article how this item is FABULOUS.

Check it out!!! http://www.finedigitalusa.com

Mine came with my Hummer and is built into the stereo system. I love it.

I just bought myself an early Christmas present last weekend - the Garmin StreetPilot C550. I love it!!! It has turn by turn voice commands, and I especially like being able to type in a particular restaurant, etc. and getting instant directions.

OK, so far I've only tested it by driving to my daughter's school and to the Sonic, but it was fun!!! And I know it will be really useful in traveling, especially driving to WDW!!

I just bought the Garmin C330 right before we left to go to DW. It helped us our entire trip!! We would have been extremely lost in Disney without it. The signs at Disney were very confusing; we would be listening to the directions of the Garmin and taking the Disney exit, although the Disney sign didn't have the location listed on it. I got Sears to pricematch (plus they give you 10% of the difference) on mine. When I bought it, it was priced at Walmart's website at $328. Now it is down to $299. At Sears it is currently priced at $399. So, if you take the printout to Sears you could get it for $299 plus another $10 off. It talks to you and tells you exactly when you need to turn...we never had a problem finding any place we wanted to go and I definitely did not know my way around Orlando!!

We got the Garmin Nuvi last year and I love it. I particularly like that you can pick a category (like 'italian restaurant') and it will find the ones closest to you. It was a lifesaver over Thanksgiving when we were in VERY rural Oklahoma and needed to find a place that sold bottled water to mix up baby formula ASAP! We use it in situations like that all the time. Another example: when we drive to WDW, we like to stop at city parks along the way to let the kids get out and play and burn off some energy. We just select that category and it'll pull up a list of what's near us at the time and off we go!

Does your husband have a PDA or a PDA style phone?

I have a PDA phone, and was able to load the navigation software to the phone. The GPS receiver is very small, sits on my dashboard, and communications to my phone via bluetooth.

This device is now my phone, computer, link to the internet, and navigation system.

Man won't take directions from da wife! Dang sure won't from a gadget! :teeth:

Actually I have a GARMIN eTrex Legend with a universal base that I use in the car and also use in the boat (software is interchangable). Pretty good! :thumbsup2

I have one that came built into my Pacifica. I love it!!!

They just came out w/an update...will be getting it in the next few weeks.

I was looking at this model. I went to our walmart today, but they don't carry it in the store. I'm going to print it out and go to sears.

Thanks, I think he's going to love it.
