hi, not from the US, i'm not sure how car rentals work in the US. We just reserved a car from National, but we didn't opt for any of the additional insurance (lik full loss cover). Now i was wondering, is there any insurance already included in the rental rate published ? or do i still need to budget extra for that ? taking a full loss is not an option as it would almost double my rate....

I have never seen insurance for a rental car included in the basic rental rate. If you have car insurance already, see if your policy covers rental cars, or if the credit card you are using gives you any coverage.

Did you book your car through your local country's associated website or did you book through the US site (or through a third party)? Often international rentals booked through your home country will include appropriate insurances (ie. Home Country is UK, Booking through Hertz UK for a US reservation will often include insurance).

If you look at your reservation and rates it may provide more insight on the items that are included (or not).

Some corporate codes do. I can use my company's contract code for personal rentals and it includes insurance. My company rate is $178 for an intermediate plus tax and on my last couple trips it has been the lowest rate I can find.

Most of us have rental coverage on our personal auto polices.

Residents of foreign countries may be required to obtain insurance and sometimes pre-pay for a full tank of gas.

Renting though your countries site, using a code intended for residents of your country and/or booking through a travel (tour) agency offer which includes such coverage is the way to go.

Booking through the US and site and you may find out you have no choice by pay $$$ for options we waive and you could have gotten for a lot less money if you did your homework.

thanks; i checked it out and it was more expensive booking via the us website and adding insurance than going through the country website... however, price increased from 300 usd to almost 500 usd; so i think we're going to simply keep it to disney transportation and take taxi's where necessary
