I have a car hire with Virgin atlantic, I want to use their next day pick up service but am considering cancelling the car and hiring it independantly. If I go for the later can some suggest a car hire company plese? I don't need child seats, or more than one driver allowed as I am going solo but I don't know which company to use and would appreciate some advice. Its going to be a practice run for 2009 for the next holiday.

We rented through the US Alamo site last year 
I used a Walmart code, from Mousesavers, and my annual car insurance from insurance4carhire
By booking through the US site it wasn't necessary to pay before collection and I was able to cancel and re-book (as better offer codes appeared) at no extra cost
