Can anyone tell me if the rumour that hire companies never have the smallest cars and you therefore automaticly get upgraded to next size up, is true or not?
As i have heard this off a few people but not sure myself, sounds to good to be true.

I don't think it is true. People might just be confused because what we'd class as compact is different to the Americans ideas so a compact isn't that small.

This happens more times than not as the Compact is the most popular size but I would not bank on it it all depends on if you are lucky whne you arrive... some companies have made people wait as there is a lege turn around in Florida

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago on the travel city direct forum, someone in the know stated that Dollar at Sanford airport to not stock economy cars . I have odered the cheapest 2 door economy car for trip on Saturday 28th April. I normally upgrade but this year will take whatever they give.

I have had 2 compacts from Dollar MCO and 1 compact from Dollar Sanford never been upgraded.
I now always order the full size for difference in price with Airline network its not worth getting compact. Especially as its usually cheaper for the platinum insurance on full size.
I compared the 2 for our 2 week trip we just got back from and it worked out at £22 diff between Compact and full size.
I was told Dollar do not stock 2 door cars, which is what I order, never got 2 doors yet.
