car hire with no credit card or prepaid advise

Hi,
It's a long time since I was last at WDW (98) now I'm thinking of a possible trip late next year and wondering about car hire.

I noticed in Virgin's brochure that the car hire company must take a credit card imprint which I understand however I no longer have a credit card and could possibly obtain one of these pre paid ones but nothing more advanced than that.

Are there any car hire companies who would accept this or would I just not be able to rent a car?

I believe some accept a cash deposit, but you should check first.

FWIW, Alamo placed a hold on my credit card of only $1.00. So you could easily apply for a credit card and then you won't have to worry.

We always hire and never leave a card, we always get the most insurance though the platinum insurance i think nd have never had a problem

Thank you for that, I was looking at the insurance pre-pay option, not something I'd seen before but a great idea.
