car hire question

I went to florida last year for the first time and it was amazing, stayed at the holiday inn (i-drive), and was very happy there, basic but very clean and the staff were also very courteous.
I was more than happy with the free shuttle bus the hotel provided, although it did sometimes get a bit cramped but it’s free after all.
So getting back to the topic were booking for next year and I was wondering if there were any pros and cons getting a hire when abroad rather than booking it through the travel agent before we go as i will probably only need it for a week during the second week of the holiday, for trips further than the parks such as beaches and the everglades which we missed last year.

You can usually get much better deals if you book before you go. Try Airline Network or Yes Car Hire for some quotes to get some ideas of cost. At least that way you are guaranteed the car you want and you know in advance how much its going to cost you. Lots of the clerks on the car rental desks try to get you to buy all sorts of unessacary upgrades, personally, I like to know I have all the correct insurances etc BEFORE I travel!

Book before you go - cheaper by far!!!!!!!!!.

If you go with one of the bigger Companies , some have offices on I-Drive where you can pick up and some will drop a car off at your Hotel. Saves a lot of hassle in not having to go back to the big offices near the Airports.

You can book car hire before you go but for the second week or just 3 days if you want only. Dollar have a car hire location at the Holiday Inn on International Drive.

You can book on Airline Network, Dollar UK or any other web based company that uses Dollar and when it asks where to collect from just choose Holiday Inn International Drive Orlando.

It is right that it is cheaper to book in the UK than in the states.
