We usually rent an Intermediate size car but this year, for some reason - I think it might have been the price, I've booked a Full Size car with Alamo. There are four of us -2 adults and 2 children with 4 cases. We are driving down from Atlanta so we have quite a few miles to cover, but I'm wondering whether or not we need such a large car.

We are also 2 adults and 2 children. We find that it is quite hard to get more than 3 suitcases into the boot of even a full size, so one normally goes on the back.

I would definitely want the extra space over an intermediate for a long drive.

I wouldn't rent anything less than full size myself and there are only 3 of us.
Easter 2008 we were 2 adults and 2 children(took DS's school friend) we struggled in a full size Dodge Charger, 2 medium cases a holdall and 3 laptop bags, wouldn't have had a chance in anything smaller.
Everyone is different but I don't find Full size big, this August I was tempted to go for an SUV again but resisted and getting Full size again.

when there used to be 4 of us (now there are 6), a full size was the minimum we could fit into.
And that was a challenge with our luggage. One suitcase and some of the carry ons usually had to be in the back seat with the kids.

After struggling with it on a few trips, i threw in the towel and only took minivans...though we didn't need all 7 seats, we needed the space for the luggage.

Thanks for the advice.
We have booked a full size car for 16 days from Atlanta Airport starting on 1st Aug. I've booked with Alamo and the price I've been quoted is £376. Does this sound OK or are there better deals around?

Just did a quick check on Netflights who are always around the cheapest, £368.00 less 5% cashback = £350

Are you driving back to Atlanta or dropping in Orlando? check for 1 way drop off fees.

Never knew rental was dearer from Atlanta, same car from MCO would be £285.

Thanks Wayne. Yes, we will be flying back from Atlanta. The problem we have is that I work for BA so we will be flying standby. Atlanta is the nearest Airport that has much availability on the days we are travelling so thats the reason why we are going there. We'd rather be flying to Miami but don't want to risk being stuck at LHR.
