Car Hire Question

IF we are planning our first three nights at a Universal Hotel then two weeks at a villa would it be better to wait and hire a car from DTD, for the two villa weeks, rather than picking one up at the airport? If we have a car at Universal it will just sit in the car park for three days, doing nothing, and we will be charged for that. However, if we only have the car for the two weeks at the villa we will have to factor in the cost of of transport from the airport to Universal, from Universal to DTD and from DTD back to the airport. Any advice appreciated.

You're flying into MCO, staying 2 nights at a Universal hotel followed by a 2 week stay at a villa?

Price a rental for your entire vacation, with a pick up at MCO. Add the cost of parking at your Universal Hotel. to your rate.

Now price a 2 week rental at a location near Universal with a drop off at MCO. I think Hertz has a counter in the Universal Hotels. I think a different agency has a desk in the nearby Sheraton. You'll need to add the cost of your transportation from MCO to your Universal hotel.

Are you from the UK? Most of us decline the expensive gas plans and collision waivers. At least some agencies make you buy those extras. You may be better off booking through one of those UK deals, those may require pickup/drop off at MCO.

Yes, from UK. Thanks for your reply. On our last visit we flew into Sanford for two weeks exactly and took a car at the airport for the two weeks. I was just wondering if it would be worth doing something different given that for the first 3 days the car would be stuck in a car park doing nothing. I will look into the pricing and see what is best but thanks again for your input.
