Car hire extras

We usually rent from Hertz, but we're thinking of renting from Alamo this time so that we can just pick the car up from the Dolphin. On the UK site, is everything included that we need? I mean, we don't need any other insurance cover or anything? I'm assuming we'd have to pay extra for excess cover and that isn't included?

if you book on the UK sites (regular or Brits rate) everything is included

you get CDW ( zero excess cover) and EP ( Third party coverage up to $1 million) included in the rate.

(those are not included by default if you book on the US alamo site)

Thanks, that's perfect! I'm assuming we can't get the Brits rate because we don't have a Brit's Guide, plus it asks you to confirm you have a UK license. My husband changed his for a French one, so I'm assuming we can't get the discount? It's not a huge amount because we're only wanting a Midsize rental for just one of the weeks, but any discount is better than none

I have used Brits despite having a french DL, but that was before they put up the nag screen with the requirements.

I don't think they would object, as nobody on any board has reported being requested to show the book (yet) but I can't advise to book the deal if you don't comply with requirements (wether you do it or not is your own business)

with a french DL you could also try to book the French discounted rate, but you'll need to pay in euros

also be advised that alamo profiles customers by country. There will be huge differences in price depending on your country of residency.

Yeah, Hertz are the same so I usually check other sites before booking. I found a 10% discount code for the UK site, so I'd already booked using that. I totally forgot to check if they had any euro sites, I could've saved another €14 using the French one!
