Everytime we've been to Orlando we have always done the bookings ourselves i.e flights, carhire, accomodation etc. This time due to my impatience of waiting for flights to be released we have booked everything through an agent. As always i have taken out the platinum cover of car insurance which covers everything and additional drivers. The car hire is with a company called suncars which i believe operate as part of first choice. I have been told that although i've booked with this company my car hire will be with dollar. The question i want to know is will the car hire company ask for a credit card as a security deposit when i collect the car even though everything has been paid for prior to collection? Some people say yse and some people say no. My brother in law travelled with tcd in the summer and he had paid everything prior to his holiday and when he collected his car from dollar he said they asked for nothing not even a credit card inprint. I have never known this but we have only ever flown into Orlando and like i said earlier we've always done a DIY holiday. This summer (08) we fly into sanford. Do they have different regulations than the car hire in MCO

Hi

I don't think there's a difference between the airports as we've picked up the hire care at both and the same process applied (with Alamo both times). It's more likely to be down to the manner of the booking.

When we booked car hire in Orlando as part of a travel co package I've never had to leave a credit card imprint - however, next year (2008) I've booked directly with Alamo using the Brit's Guide discount and expect to be asked to leave my cc details.

We have always prepaid with Dollar through Airline Network and have never been asked for our credit card or a deposit.

I also always use Airnet/Dollar In Florida they have asked for a credit card for a number of years now, but they have my card details on record as I am an express member.
I have picked 2 cars up this past week, 1 in Vegas and the 2nd in Los Angeles, both held $400 on my credit card, dont know if this is new policy with Dollar and they will do this in Florida next time or if its just Dollar over here in Western USA.
