Car hire credit card bond

If you take the Hire car companies Insurance do you still have to leave a credit card bond or deposit?

Dollar took a swipe of mine 2 weeks ago, even though I pre-paid for the lot.

I will be watching my CC statement closely for the next 2 months.....

On the occasions that I have been I have used a credit card and they take an imprint also last time I went I used Dollar at Sanford and didn't take a credit card and I had to leave a $ 40.00 deposit which when I took the car back they sent me a cheque for the refund which took about 3 weeks to arrive.

I phoned Dollar at MCO yesterday to ask them about the same question as we have booked the all-inclusive carhire with autosabroad for our trip next month.
We're not sure about taking credit card yet (its a bit maxed out...lol) and autosabroad said it would be a problem.

The girl at Dollar at the airport was so helpful. She said that if we have the maximum package - tank of fuel and extra drivers, and we have a pre-paid voucher then we do not need to give a credit card when we collect our car.

All our previous trips have involved credit cards - but one time we upgraded, another we rented child seats and the other two times we had not paid everything before we went.
