Don't know if anyone else has spotted this but virgin are currently offering an additional driver for free on USA car hire up until June 30th

https://www.virginatlantictravelplus.com/book-a-car

You also earn 2 flying club points for every £1 spent and they use Alamo.

I wouldn't normally check their prices as virgin are usually expensive but the quote I got for an SUV is very good and in fact £100 cheaper than Alamo Brits.
It may be of use for someone like me who likes the option of an additional driver without paying over the odds:cool1:

We used them last year and found them great, and with the bonus of being able to do online check in for the car hire it made it so quick and easy :):)

I was being very selfish and trying to get my booking done before commenting but thanks for this.

Got a full size SUV for 22 nights and one way MCO - PBI for £512!!!!

Belting, thanks.

Actually, can I confess, I booked before posting, having seen it a couple of days earlier.
I think it is an offer on SUV's combined with the extra driver.

I think so - we are not looking for an SUV and it wanted to charge me £40 for the additional driver. Much more expensive than other companies we have been looking at. :sad2:

The additional driver is included free for all classes of vehicle- on offer til end of june on 'fully inclusive' (lowest price) bookings. Although it doesn't come up with the additional driver on the prices page it is confirmed clearly on the booking.
The cheaper price on suv's is a separate offer

Ah. I didn't get as far as booking as the prices page implied I'd have to upgrade the package to get an additional driver. Even without that, it was more expensive anyway :scratchin

Just a bump in case anyone didn't spot this. I checked my SUV price today and it's gone down a further £10. I think they must be closely tied to the exchange rate and as it improves their system just recalculates rather than retain the margin like most will do!

22 nights of standard SUV in August now £502 which is very good.

Hope some can find a deal, prices I am getting are way too high.
16 nights in July full size car = £370, I paid £257.
Also checked our 7 night rental in Sept, 7 seater SUV = £229, paid £141 with Hertz

I think it is just the 5 seater SUV which comes out at a good price, and only then if you need an additional driver which is free till end of month.
There is a comment on the initial page "SUV from just £140 per week in the USA" implying some kind of offer.
