Does anyone know of any carhire firms that hire out different types of vehicles such as jeeps rather than your usual cars, i have searched the net but found nothing.

We're hiring a station wagon (Ford Taurus?) through Hertz, but that's in Canada , so may not be any help to you.

They may be worth a try for something different in Florida - they can only say "no".

Dollar,do 4x4 jeeps I know this as Im trying to get one for our trip to las vegas, they do them in florida and california also, try going through the virgin travelstore website,and booking them yourself.

Hi, I've booked a Chevrolet Blazer 4X4 (posh type) with http://www.holidayautos.co.uk I'm not sure If this is the kind you mean or a Jeep Wrangler (sporty type). I wanted to rent an unusual/exotic car - Dodge Viper - when I was last in Florida... However, it would have meant staying in Motel6... GF preferred the Animal Kingdom Lodge and an 'ordinary' car.... Oh well...

Just a thought - you weren't considering a Jeep Wrangler? The open top type? I wouldn't recommend it - too hard to put the top up and it has been known to rain a little in Orlando!

I personally wouldn't recommend a soft-top, after personal experience... My forehead go that badly burnt I couldn't frown for three days!

Dollar have available Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Durangos and Ford Expeditions. They charge a premium rate for these though, so dont expect much of a deal! Holiday Autos do the Chevy Blazer for about £450 for 2 weeks I think, which is about the best deal I have seen on a 4x4.
