Hi all,

Long time no see :)

I'm currently planning a trip with my Disney family and each of us have been put in charge of booking different things - mine is car hire, and since it's my first time hiring a car over there I thought I'd come to the people in the know.

I've had a quick look about and the best deal I have spotted so far is National@ £24.26 +10% cashback through Quidco. Is this a good deal or has anyone spotted anything extra special that I should know about?

We've all lived there so don't need anything other than 4 wheels and an engine (and maybe some air con for the heat :rotfl:)

Thanks

Cairi x (96 days to go...:cheer2:)

what do you mean by "we've all lived there so don't need anything but 4 wheels and an engine"?

also, how big a car do you need? how many people?

Thanks WayneG, just after I posted the planning bug struck and I got my teeth stuck in and found a good deal (with good cashback) through Expedia. Thank you though :)

Sorry I should have been clearer Disneyholic Family:) we only needed the basics (small car, 4 door for 4 people with no add ons like GPS or booster seats.) The only thing that was fixed was pick up from the Dolphin Resort.

Thanks again for your help everyone

so the kind of car i usually get when i'm there without the family - the smallest, cheapest one! :)

just be sure you have all the insurance!

What dates you looking for? I will see what I can find.

can i jump onboard and ask for the best place to get a quote??

we're looking for a convertible with sixt??

Sixt.co.uk via Quidco = £549 - 8% = £505

Is there a reason for Sixt?

Same car with eBookers/Alamo(using their App & Quidco app, website more) = £472 - 10% = £424

wow! big difference! thanks Wayneg... only reason for sixt was the hassle free experience we had last year; but may be swayed to go back with alamo!

I have never found a good deal with Sixt for myself, I know others do from time to time but they are like Hertz, always tend to do more expensive than Dollar/Alamo/Budget.

Been some good prices on eBookers App in past month or so, no idea why they can't do same prices on their website.

I've been trying to do this using the quidco app with the ebookers app, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a nack to it? If I click the link on the quidco app it opens in safari rather than the ebookers app! This is on an iPhone 4.

Thanks,
Christine

It was Joh, Wilma-Bride who posted it could be done about a month ago, I never tried so I just installed the Quidco App to try it.
I opened the Quidco App, clicked on eBookers and it opens eBookers mobile site, not their full site. The prices shown are the same as using their App, it also shows the full prices from the full website crossed out.

Ah, fab, thanks! I didn't even think to check that! It's quoting £151.85 (-10% from quidco) for an economy car from 30th Sept at Lake Buena Vista to 9th Oct at MCO. I'm sure I've seen cheaper on other sites in the past so think I'll keep browsing for a bit.

Interestingly, it seems to be £130 (-10% for quidco) if we collect the car from Dolphin instead! Happy to do that so that may be the answer.

I think there is a 10% tax surcharge when you collect at the airport.
That might be why collecting at the Dolphin is cheaper.

Its a $2.50/day Customer Facility Charge when collecting from the airport.

Although I just checked our dates, both from the airport & from Dolphin, both exactly the same price with Alamo at £359.92. Yet the Airport quote clearly says "includes Customer Facility Charge 2.50 Per Day" the Dolphin quote no mention of it.

So no idea why my quote is the same from both locations but someone else gets a difference.

Just double checked and there is another 10% fee which is possibly for airport location Priv Fee Recov Chg 10%
But on the Dolphin quote there is Hotel Consession Fee 10% so that balances that.

Wayne....the ebookers app doesn't let you add the insurance upgrade package, extra driver and tank of fuel before hitting pay. Do you know if this can be added after hitting the pay option? The prices for our July trip are excellent and as you said cheaper than the ebookers site....but no good for us without extra driver.

Rung helpline...useless.
Don't want to have to add extras at TPA as obviously will get stung...also cancelling after hitting pay induces a charge.

Any help appreciated.

Looks like the only option would be add extra driver at the desk.

I just checked our dates in July (3th-19th) to compare

Using ebookers/Quidco app it would be £254 less 10% = £229 extra driver costs around $10/day for 16 days = £95 total = £324

Alamo.co.uk/Brits = £303 with free extra driver

Might be better going with the Brits deal and know costs upfront.
