Car drop off location help needed

Good morning everyone!

My girlfriend and I are headed to Orlando for the first time in May and are also renting a car for the first time! After we leave Orlando we are staying for 2 nights in the Keys and then 2 nights in Miami. We are wondering if the best idea is to drop the car off at the airport then bus/train into South Beach or to brave the city traffic and head to the Alamo drop off on South Beach?

We're worried about driving through Miami, it'll be the wrong side of the road and the car for us!

How will you get to the airport from SoBeach?? I think the traffic in SoBeach moves fairly slowly...so lots of time to 'make mistakes'.
If there is available transport, between the airport and SoBeach, then sure, go for it.
