Car Audio Tech Question

DH has an iPhone and normally plays Spotify via Bluetooth through his car speakers when he's driving. The other day when we were using the GPS (on the same phone) the music cut out (like it normally does when the GPS talks) but didn't come back.

I thought maybe it was because my phone was also in the car, and it was "searching" for the wrong one, but he's driven alone since, and still can't get it to work. The song shows on the car's audio display as playing, there's just no sound, no matter how he adjusts the volume knob.

I'm no help, since my car doesn't even have that feature, so I know even less than he does about how to work it. If anyone here is an expert, or the same thing has happened to you, or you just have a random guess, please share your ideas! Thanks

Reboot the phone.

Unpair the car from the phone's bluetooth and re pair it. He also needs to make sure his phone's media volume is not muted.

Was the sound on his phone turned up? This happens to me sometimes after others are in the car and I have to play around with it.

That sounds like a pain. We have a Civic and that car tries to deselect everything else to favor Pandora, so if I want anything other than Pandora sometimes I actually need to remove Pandora from the phone, it's a very irritating process but works for my weird car. Also, maybe check if another Bluetooth device will pick up his phone, it might rule out the phone being the trouble or confirm it. Hope it sorts out.

That is called Audio Ducking (the only time I really mean to type that word despite what auto-correct thinks). Check the settings on both his Spotify and navigation apps to ensure something along the lines of "Respect Audio Ducking" is enabled.
