My DD just got a "role" at the Captain's Grille, so naturally I want to eat there when I'm at WDW in April. But I have absolutely zero knowledge of the place.

Opinions on the food, theming, service?:)

Oh, and I'm SURE the service will be OUTSTANDING when my DD is working.;)

We really enjoyed it when we ate there in 9/07. I loved the Halibut and lager steamed mussels, yummy!

I think it is a well kept WDW secret.

Thanks guys. It sounds like a great place and one that I will absolutely visit in April - for all the obvious reasons.;)

grinningghost - I hope you'll post a review of Captain's Grille when you get back from your trip, I was just wondering if anybody had eaten there since it changed from Yacht Club Galley. I'm considering eating there later this year, my family and I would like to try some restaurants we've never been to and this one looks interesting.

Best of luck to your daughter in her new "role"! :goodvibes

We have eaten there several times, as recent as November 2007, when it was the Yacht Club Galley. We always considered the restaurant a "well kept" secret. The meal, the service, and the prices have always been very good. I hope this continues with the new name and menu.

Also, they have a good breakfast buffet. My Dad loves it as it is "all you can eat" and he is a big guy and wakes up HUNGRY. He always talks about the place and has gone a few times by himself when the rest of us losers were sleeping up in the room.

The breakfast was hit and miss, the bacon was the best ever but the french toast was a soggy lump...the eggs benedict were to die for but the potatoes were the worst I have ever eaten... but I am looking forward to trying the new lunch menu, the lobster roll sounds yummy

I will definitely post a review (and TRY to be unbiased) when we get back. I imagine we'll eat there more than once, maybe a breakfast and a dinner, depending on DD's work schedule. If you only get one chance to see your kid working in Disney, you get in there as often as possible.;)

I looked at pics of the place and it looks very nice, very nautical-like. Sort of New Englandish.:thumbsup2

Congratulations to your DD. Sounds like a great place to be! And don't worry about being totally unbiased!

Now that the new menu came out DH wants to try this place for dinner, the menu sounds so good!

We have breakfast there every trip - Last one was two weeks ago. We always enjoy it - their buffet has never disappointed, neither has the service. The decor is very "nautical New England" - very understated.

We had a brand new server named Denise (sp?) assisting our server - she was wonderful! She was so nice to my 2 DD's spending time talking to them and asking who their favorite princesses are. They each colored a picture and gave it to her at the end of the meal and it seemed to make her happy - I know it made my girls happy when she asked them for hugs before we left.

I hope you enjoy it - I know we will keep going back!

Cheers-
