My DH and I are lucky enough to have the g'parents along on are trip and are getting a date night! I have a reservation for CG but am now thinking I'd love to try Narcoossees...should I keep trying for a ressie or keep CG? Thoughts and reviews n each or either??

I have never eaten at CG but I am just wonderfully in love with Narcoossee's. From the moment we walk into the place to the goodbyes we get and give to the staff, it is just an amazing and special experience without any characters or children(not that characters and children aren't great! :rolleyes1)

Opposite experience here. We've been going to Narcoossee's for over 12 years and know plenty of staff there, and from the moment we entered about 2 weeks ago (to celebrate my mom's birthday) to the moment we left, we were completely neglected by our server and given rude treatment for giving a tip above 20% (because our neglectful server felt entitled to more!). Food isn't memorable compared to the other signatures. And Narcoossee's has plenty of children because it's known more for its view of the fireworks than the food. It's easily one of the noisiest signatures, and the food is rather simple.

On the other hand, I think Captain's Grille is a pretty generic, boring place to dine. I wouldn't really want to sit for a meal there (and last time we had breakfast there, my mom found a bug in her food).

What about Flying Fish? Like Captain's Grille, it's in the Epcot area. And like Narcoossee's, it specializes in seafood. Unlike both of them, it gets really rave reviews.

Or do you mean California Grill? Captain's Grille is a completely different restaurant and not a comparable experience (especially if you're looking for a date night). If you mean California Grill vs. Narcoossee's, I would say California Grill.

It depends on how much you want to spend. I really like Captain's Grille and I find it to be a step up on other Disney one credit restaurants. Desserts are great and entrees good too! I loved my chocolate giuanduja cake. Our server was amazing and I really feel that Captains Grill is fancy compared to other 1 credit restaurants.

Do you mean California Grill ?? On top of the Contemporary ?? Because Captain's Grille is just a average steak restaurant in the Yacht Club. I have a review of California Grill here and here.

Well, I'll buck the trend and say that we loved our meal at the Captain's Grille (Yacht Club). Kids had the steak. It may have just been average, but they're not big steak connoisseurs, so they thought it was great.

My wife and I had the fish, which was Salmon flown fresh from Scotland. It was well-prepared (I'm always hesitant to order Salmon because it's so easy to ruin) and delicious.

Desserts were also wonderfully decadent. It was very quiet the night we went, so the meal was also a relaxing change of pace from the usual hustle and bustle of WDW.

I was considering trying Narcoosee's next time we go. I've only heard good things until this thread. We probably wouldn't be there any time remotely close to the fireworks. I can understand a lot of people with kids showing up at that time for the view and it could get loud. Does the atmosphere seem more relaxed at other times of the day?

We've never been to Captain's Grille-we are planning a breakfast there next trip. We did really like Narcoosee's though and will be doing a repeat next time we go.

Have fun with the plans!
:)

I thought CG meant California Grill...if it does I would stick with that....and if you meant Captains Grill I would still stick with that :lmao:

We have eaten at both restaurants several times. All of our visits have been excellent - but to compare the two is like compairing "apples to oranges." The atmosphere at Captain's Grille is more low-key and casual and usually is less crowded. The service there is outstanding. We have always felt that Captain's was a hidden gem. Our opinion of Narcoossee's is that the food can be more adventuresome with a "date-night" atmosphere. We usually go to Narcoosee's when we intentionally are not in a hurry. Our experience with their service has been excellent and we love going there. Everyone has their own opinion, but we love both restaurants. I do believe that we spend more money at Narcoossee's than Captains though. Maybe that is just us! Good luck!
