Has anyone eaten there recently? I have never been there..despite several stays at the BC...I have it scheduled for our next trip in November and just wanted to get some fresh opinions on it.....We have 3 kids, me and my hubby...so is it pretty family friendly? I know everyone has different tastes and food preferences...I am just looking for an overall vibe from families, or folks who have went and would recommend it or would go back!! TIA!!

My DH and I had dinner there last November and liked it a lot! It's very nice and very family friendly, I saw lots of kids there! The food is very good too, I had a steak which was great and my DH had some kind of pasta that I think was the special that night, but I don't remember, it might have been on the everyday menu...we really liked it and would definitely go back! :thumbsup2

We ate there last October and were really impressed. The steak was as good as the Yachtsman, IMO, but it had a more relaxed atmosphere. DS even liked it - and he usually just wants pizza!

The service there was also great!

Good to know!! I have one that is somewhat picky!!!

We were there for lunch a few months ago and were not impressed at all. Sorry to say it was probably one of the least favorite meals of the trip. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great.

Personally, I would head over to Epcot for a bite before going back here again.

Just for breakfast, breakfast is good, there is a choice of buffet or ordering a la carte. It has no "Disney" theming but would be fine for families. It's quieter than most Disney restaurants, but not stuffy.

if you're looking for a meal or atmosphere that will blow your socks off, this ain't it - but if you just want someplace serviceable to eat, it's fine.

We have eaten there many times and always have a good meal. The steak is very good. We have not been for breakfast, just dinner.

Has anyone ate there for Thanksgiving Dinner?

We ate there for the first time 3 weeks ago. We were very pleased with our meals. My DD had the Chef's pasta dish of the day. It had shrimp and she said it was great. My sister had the rib eye and she said it was a fantastic steak. She is a picky eater and also has allergies, so they made her meal to avoid what she is allergic to. I had the grilled pork chop. It was extremely thick and I had them grill it as the chef suggested. It was perfect. We were on the dining plan and they allow you to use a table service credit towards their 3 course fixed meal. So, I got an appetizer to go along with my meal. I chose the crab cake and it was great. For dessert, I chose the key lime tart and really enjoyed it. The fixed meal is priced at about $27.
We would not hesitate to return to this restaurant. It was family friendly. It was mostly families eating that night. 3 kids had birthday presentations while we were there. They brought out a cupcake with a candle for them and the entire restaurant sang happy birthday to them.

We are dining there for dinner in September for the first time and I am really excited about it. I have read many wonderful reviews on this restaurant, I have seen many people call it one of Disney's hidden gems. We were contemplating either lunch or dinner here but decided on dinner because the of the Snow Crab legs .

yeah...not wanting it for atmosphere..just something different close to where we are staying!

I read that somewhere too...which is what brought it to my attention in the first place!! I have a friend going in July...maybe she will remember to tell us how she likes it!

We like this place for breakfast and lunch. Dinner, not so much. We've tried dinner a couple of times and never really happy with our meal. But for breakfast this is a great one. They do BOTH buffet and menu choice, so for our big guys they choose buffet, for us girls always on a diet, we like the menu choice, the the little ones order off the menu. Lunch is nice and quiet and relaxing---I really like their fish and chips meal. Service is a little slow here, so don't go if you're in a hurry!

I had lunch there last week. The lobster roll was superb, very authentic (I've had them on boat docks up in Maine and the Captain's Grille version was right up with those!!!)

I was looking at the menu and was wondering how good the Lobster roll is...THANK YOU so much for posting this.

I love lobster rolls, this one does look delicious! We will be going in August for lunch, and that is what I will be ordering! :goodvibes This will be our first time dining there.

I don't mean to be a :sad1: "Debbie Downer" :sad1: but although this looks delish, I order that exact same thing when we were there a few months ago and found the lobster meat to be rather mushy and not so sweet. In fact, it tasted rather fishy and it was like it was previously frozen. Perhaps I just had a bad batch or went there on an off day, but I was not thrilled with my choice and have had way better lobster rolls in my day.

Also, I wanted to add, there were only 3 other families dining for lunch the day we went and the service was soooooo sloooooow! I totally forgot about that until I read someones elses post.

And because I hate to be a downer, I will add a postive. I did like the wedge salad. It was very good and refreshing. My hubby actually wished he would have ordered this instead of his caesar.:thumbsup2

I also enjoy breakfast and lunch there. I LOVE the lobster roll, which isn't offered at dinner.

Captain's Grille is surprisingly good, considering its aspirations. It is essentially a standard, nondescript hotel restaurant, but the food is better than I expected. It's not a destination, not worth a special trip, but if you're in the Epcot area looking for a relatively quiet meal.
