Captain Underpants & Pres.

So as I was flipping through my cousin's Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People book, I came across a drawing of a kid near a water fountain and above it on the wall of the hall was a sign that read "'Schools is Educationy' A message from our President". As to not editorialize in my initial post, I'll just pose you a question: Is it appropriate for authors, in this case Dav Pilkey, to put these types of things (anti-Presidential propaganda) in books geared for children? I'm not talking about his right to, I'm talking about morality.

What's so wrong about it? The bad grammar? What about Toys-R-Us or things of that nature. Bad grammar is everywhere.

You either have good grammar or you don't. One thing in a book isn't going to change someone's grammar for the bad.

Plus, even people with... not great but... proficient grammar use things like -y or -ish all the time. Its just part of being an American.

While I fully understand what you're saying (which even then I don't fully agree with but that's a whole other topic), the issue is not about the grammar. I'm curious to see people's opinions on authors mocking their President and subjecting this specifically to children.

Oh. In that case, I still don't think its a bad thing. That's what children will be subjected to their whole life. People saying that the president is stupid, or bad or should do this or that differently.

And in this case, it's not bashing a particular president either... so I don't see the problem... but maybe that's just me.
