Captain kidds, is that gone?

Oh how sad that they are still open. I got all excited when I read the title of this thread and thought maybe something decent would finally be in that space!:lmao:

I wish they'd put the Chinese restaurant (that served pancakes in the morning for breakfast!) that used to be in that location back! Growing up, my family always ate lunch and dinner at least once each trip there. It's been gone for years now, shame that the space is now occupied by Captain Kidd's & The Most Expensive IHOP In The World :sad2:

I admit I would never pay for a meal there but I will say when we stayed at the BWPPI we ate breakfast the free continental breakfast each day. Though it may have gotten a little boring after 3 days it wasn't gross or stale or nasty. Dare I say it was good? But then again I'm a fruit loops lover :) For the free breakfast I think its fine. But thats as far as I would go.

We stayed at the BWPPI once and we had the free breakfast at Captain Kidd's, BUT it's totally different from the food you actually order. Trust me on that. It isn't great but it is better. I would do the BWPPI breakfast again but that's it, nothing else, even with free food vouchers!!

Last time I was there, we stayed one night at the Best Western which included a free breakfast at Captain Kidds. It was pretty bad...I think I had juice and an English muffin.

We were just there last week at the Best Western next to Captain Kidds. We were not going to get the free breakfast but decided to check it out. It was not bad - but they didn't actually "cook" any of it. There was toast, bagles (cream cheese & jam), donuts, danish, hard boiled eggs, 5 types of cereal, 4 or 5 juices and whole fruit. We had cereal, bagels, donuts and eggs (nicely cooked) and were fine. It was nice to be able to take it back to the room and eat because it was loud. Saved us some $$.

I hear the down stairs is bad but people were eating.

I'm glad to hear the breakfast included with BWPPI is not so horrible! I was really worried about our upcoming trip!

I too was hoping by the title of this thread that Captain Kidd's was finally gone, We were warned to stay away from it by our So.Cal package bus driver.:rotfl2:

captain kidds....what kind of food do they serve? we are in south dakota so we don't have this here.

Go to dented and damaged canned food store and get large cans of everything. Open them up and dump in a bowl, that's the food they serve. It's the worst. :scared1:

The breakfast isn't that bad. It's free and not any worse than any of the other free fare on Harbor

After reading about dinner there and the health reports I think I would skip free breakfast. I rather eat at McDonalds if I could or Millies and Mimis than that place.

The free breakfast is for guests of the BWPPI not everyone, and it's not cooked so they can't screw that up. It's danishes, cereal, boiled eggs (how do you mess that up?), other pastries/breads and juice/coffee and that's about it. Yes, we did do the free breakfast and it was OK, but the menu food was NOT ok, not in any way!!

I would much rather eat at McD's than at Captain Kidd's and McD's is the WORST for me to eat!! 5 min. after eating there I always feel my heart racing and I have trouble catching my breath, so we don't eat there very much. lol

That sounds like a food allergy reaction as that is usually what happens when I have reactions though I do not notice the breathing part but do at times have my throat swell. Racing pulse is not good.

ugh. My dad is the king of buffets and made us go last November. There was NOTHING on the menu that my celiac daughter could eat safely except the wilted salad. I think we had pudding. It was AWFUL AWFUL and I'm not a picky eater. I'd never go there again. Barf.

No, not an allergy but a reaction to the amount of sodium in McD's food. I have HBP so that amount of sodium is really bad. My throat doesn't swell after eating there, it's more the racy pulse thing, which is bad yes. According to my Dr it's related to my HBP tho and not food allergies.

Your DD had wilty lettuce too??? What do they do go to the sales on the last day before stuff will be thrown out? NASTY!!!!!

Pixiewings do talk to an allergist. Unless you get that kind of reaction to campbell's soup you should check out your health with an allergist. I have had two spells after pigging out on salty foods and now remember my friend chastising me on line for eating so much salt.

One thing to consider is that when you do the free breakfast you are condoning a business that otherwise has unsafe food. They get paid by the hotel by the way. I will not line the pockets of such a bad restaurant.

Actually Laurie, I can't eat Campbell's soup unless it's the low sodium variety. :) I haven't been to an allergist but I do trust my dr and he says it's the HBP.

That's part of the reason we won't stay at BWPPI, because the free breakfast is at CK's and we can't stand that place. The one time we did stay there it was for 1 nite and we didn't know the free breakfast was at CK's until we checked in. :)

Wow, you'd like to think that a restaurant right across Harbor from DLR couldn't be too bad, right? Wrong!

My wife and I went there last month for a late lunch and left in a record 21 minutes...yes, from a buffet. We were initially seated next to a booth (when the place was at perhaps 1/3 capacity) from a family with not just a fussy baby, but one screaming bloody murder. We're parents to three and love kids, but I went to the manager and we moved. Directly across from the buffet. Perhaps we should have remained near the screaming child!

There was so very little that was edible. The food looked horrible, smelled horrible, and WAS horrible. We both tried the "lets sample a little of everything, to find what's good." NOTHING. Even theo ice cream was bad! It made even the most seedy Old Country Buffet look like fine dining. We don't usually look down our noses at a buffet, but...

I won't even discuss the other people dining at Captain Kidd's, since there's no way that I won't offend at least someone or some group... Please save your money and dine ANYWHERE in Disneyland.

I would love to see Gordon Ramsey give that place a huge restaurant makeover... can you just hear him now? "It's Rawr!!" :rotfl:

We did eat there (upstairs portion) around 5 years ago for the free breakfast, and things did seem very stale (pastries) but of course that was upstairs. I think once we had the breakfast (mickey pancakes) but we didn't care for the place, it looked very dirty and gross.

I hate when we hear people exclaim, "OH, Mom, Dad, can we eat at Captain Kidds?" The poor tourists who don't frequent these disboards are often caught into that trap. Blech.

One of my favorite restaurants, ever (my family would eat there on every Disney trip!), Chao's, a Chinese restaurant, used to be where Captain Nasty's is now.

It was bad enough that Chao's went away, but to have it replaced with...THAT...is a travesty :sad2:

Seriously...I wouldn't feed my DOG that food
