Captain Kangaroo died

Oh, that's sad. I remember him. He and Mr. Greenjeans. I also watched Gene London, Sally Starr and Chief Halftown.

Clarabell the Clown from Howdy Doody. Captain Kangaroo. :( We sure will miss you, thanks so much for being with me growing up. :( That is sad.

How very sad. I really enjoyed watching Captain Kangaroo when I was a child. He seemed to be a very warm and caring individual. May he rest in peace.

Dan -- thanks for posting the pictures.

I too grew up watching the Captain. I sat in front of our t.v. many mornings watching him and learning, while having so much fun.

Thanks, Captain.

It's been a bad week for boomers in Chicago. Earlier this week, Ray Rayner died. He hosted a morning kids show and was also on the Bozo show here. He had a big dog named Cuddly Duddly.

Captain Kangaroo spoke at my brother's college commencement--many of the grads threw ping pong balls around.

:(

:(

Mr. Greenjeans, Dancing Bear, Grandfather Clock, Bunnyrabbit and Captain Kangaroo. Oh, how I miss them all.

Wow....I've had trouble finding people that know who Gene London and Sally Starr are....

I have an autographed picture of Sally.......

I just saw this news and I am actually crying over this one. I watched the Captain for years and I loved Mr. Moose. He made Romper Room look pretty darn stupid. This is very sad for me.

Oh my. :( How very sad.

I met him a few years ago and consider that to be a wonderful moment in my life.

His gentle way seems almost lost in today's world but I remember it so very well and will appreciate it forever.

He will certainly be missed. :(

How very much he will be missed. I grew up watching him and Mr. Moose. I must be be getting"younger" all the shows I grew up with are no more or kids never heard of them. At least I still have Mickey Mouse.

We Thirty-somethings are losing all contact with our youth.... First Mr. Hooper, then Mr. Wizard, Mr. Rogers and now the Captain. What a sad day. I think I'll drop some ping pong balls on DS's head as a memorial.

Thanks for helping to make childhood imaginative and fun old friend.

I was thinking of him the other night as I was reading Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel to my daughter.
